If you’re looking for a laid back nostalgic vibe the Rainbow Cafe is your spot!!! Greeted by local server named Zach, hands down knows the menu, serves a mean drink and is top notch in the service department! All with a smile… Hands down best home cooked meal in Pendleton! Check it out I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Go early !!!! We ordered the mike high omelet and I’m glad we split it… they are not shy with their portions… fresh ingredients, delicious food and the bloody Maria’s were perfect. A MUST if you’re in town for the weekend.

Breakfast at a local legend! Rainbow Cafe, Pendleton’s oldest-continuously open restaurant/bar in the same location! Going strong since 1883!!! (139 years!!) Small town feel with amazing food!

This experience was a pretty big disappointment. We came in, sat down, and were rudely told we couldn’t sit at the booth because we had someone in our party under 21, although it was 11am, none of us were going to drink alcohol, and we were far away from the bar. Oh well. We were pointed to a table literally 5ft further than the one that we were at before. Our server came up to us, no smile, no kindness, asked us what we wanted to drink. She had to come back to ask again because she forgot and then when she brought our 4 sodas she still messed up on 1 of them. She made it blatantly obvious that she didn’t care. Our food order went in a similar fashion. We ordered a tuna melt, chicken sandwich, chicken burger, and chili dog. There were only three tables occupied in the whole restaurant, the kitchen had nothing to do, and it still took over 45min to get our lunch. No apologies whatsoever. She never came back to ask for refills and never asked if we wanted to pay the bill. We had to get up and ask. Also, the restaurant was dark, the booths and chairs were uncomfortable, and everything looked worn down. The food quality was good, but with this type of service and atmosphere, I don’t need to come back.

The Buffalo head was the most impressive thing about the place. Walking in through the swinging door, (only one was working) one would almost expect heads to turn, exorcism speed being met at the door.

Definitely a spot to check out even for the memorabilia alone. This place is nearly 150 years old! In the heart of town and good food!

I have a special place in my heart for a darkly lit bar, open early in the morning, with numerous people opening their first beers of the day. I enjoyed myself. Had some good conversation. Waitress was dicing with a customer. Biscuits and gravy were decent. If you’re up early and feel like drinking in a very old bar, it’s a good spot.
