If you haven’t been to Rachel’s Southern Style Restaurant in Watkinsville, it’s an absolute must if you love true Southern comfort food. ️✨
They start you off with complimentary cornbread that’s unbelievably soft and fluffy—the kind that melts in your mouth and sets the tone for the entire meal.
Today I ordered the home-battered chicken tenders, and they were perfectly juicy on the inside with a golden, crispy coating. They came with steamed cabbage seasoned just right and thick, creamy mashed potatoes topped with rich brown gravy. Every bite was comforting and flavorful—it was incredible.
On past visits, I’ve had the meatloaf, green beans, rutabagas and collard greens, and they’re all solid, satisfying choices that taste just like home-cooked Southern classics. Rachel’s consistently delivers hearty portions, great flavor, and that warm, welcoming Southern feel. Highly recommend. ❤️

The country fried chicken and country fried steak were excellent, served with mashed potatoes and carrots with raisins or cornbread pudding—our choices from a wide variety of available sides. This place is going downhill – fast! Bland, premade veggies, overcooked fried chicken and undercooked fried steak, reheated yesterday potatoes… Racially motivated discrimination of the table next to us – it was embarrassing to get our drinks and bread before they were even greeted, and they were there before we walked in!
