We went to R Bar to have lunch and attend the Light of Day benefit that was recently held there. What a great place! The food, the atmosphere and the service-all top notch (and even more impressive, the place was packed but the food and service were still A+). We decided to try some dishes to share. The blue crab beignets-OMG! So light, flavorful and definitely something I will order every time we visit. Their gumbo was awesome and skirt steak street tacos were phenomenal! We also had their broiled oysters-also delicious! We will be back!

We’ve enjoyed R Bar a few times, the food and service are good, the atmosphere is great. With several seating choices (bar, dining room, rooftop and backyard) we opt for seating outside. It gets pretty loud inside, and it’s difficult to hold a conversation. The backyard is very pleasant.
We found the food a bit bland tonight, which was surprising. The gumbo, a huge plate, was mostly a liquid soup and the burger needed seasoning. The fries were perfect, as were the beignets for dessert.

We hosted our wedding reception at R Bar, and it was incredible from start to finish. The food was outstanding, the drinks were perfect, and the staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. Huge huge huge thanks to the owners and team for making the night so special.
We’ve always loved R Bar as one of our favorite restaurants in Asbury Park, so having our wedding there made it even more meaningful. It’s been three weeks and our guests are still raving about it. Truly an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for a nontraditional wedding experience (or date night lol) , hosting it at a place like R Bar is the way to go!!

We had a wonderful first visit yesterday. Jackie was our server and she was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and spot-on with her recommendations. She suggested the scallop appetizer, which was excellent. I ordered the seafood ramen and my wife had the wedge salad; both dishes were fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be back soon!

R Bar is such a vibe from start to finish! The energy is infectious, thanks in large part to the upbeat disco playlist that makes you want to dance in your seat while sipping cocktails. Everything about the atmosphere feels fun, lively, and just right for a night out or weekend treat.
The food is fantastic. Most dishes were exceptional and a few were just okay, but overall we were super impressed. The tuna and watermelon combo was refreshing and perfectly balanced, and the shrimp tacos were absolutely divine. The baked oysters were rich and packed with flavor. We could have ordered another round. The only dish that missed the mark a bit were the mussels, which were a little bland and could have used more depth. Still, everything else made up for it in a big way.
Now, the MargaREAPER deserves a shoutout all on its own. It was hands down my favorite cocktail of the night. I highly recommend swapping in mezcal for the tequila. It gives it the perfect smoky kick. I ended up ordering three, it was that good.
For dessert, do not skip the beignets. They are an absolute must order. Light, airy, and totally addictive.
And if you’re going on a Saturday or Sunday, ask for Brittany. She is the BEST. Attentive, fun, and made our experience that much better. We will be back for sure!

We stopped in for a drink and appetizer before dinner and it was such a nice first experience. The drink was delicious and so were the deviled eggs! The bartenders were friendly and the vibe of the bar was really great. I can’t wait to come back!

This place has it all ! Great service even from the minute you walk in you feel welcome there. Apple Crack Cocktail is wildly tasty ! Bourbon Slushy excellent except for the brain freeze. Chicken HandPie was quite unique. Flaky light and tasty. The French Dip Sandwich was done perfectly bread had the perfect crust yet still soft inside. Steak cooked perfectly. Now the GUMBO !!!!! Just insane with flavor and depth. Robust, rich full of flavor. Every bite was a different taste whether it was the crab,shrimp, sausage or crayfish . All around an excellent place. So glad we came out tonight ! Thank you !

Beautiful New Orleans vibe restaurant/bar. Our waitress Molly was very kind and fun to speak with. Gave excellent suggestions with food options.
I had the salmon and hubby had the craw fish pasta. He also had the caccio de peppe deviled eggs. No complaints from either of us.

This place was really great. Upstairs rooftop bar area is SO PRETTY. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. I personally ordered the “abnormally large child” which was so sweet and delicious with fruity pebbles punch.
Casio e pepe deviled eggs were amazingggg. Our group also ordered the pimento cheese and fries, which were both nice too. But the deviled eggs were the highlight of my experience here. Definitely a must-have for those stopping by R bar.

The Traveling Foodie
Yummy food and cocktails! The inside is very nicely decorated and I love the style. They have a back patio you can sit in and also a rooftop area that is only open some days during the week when it’s warmer out. We sat in the back patio. They have heaters for when it’s a little too cold. Also very well decorated outside, fence covered in many different state’s license plates and also some plants.
We ordered the Abnormally Large Child, Permanent Vacation, Door #3, Bourbon Slushy, and Idle Pleasure. The Abnormally Large Child was the waitress’ favorite and definitely mine as well. Very sweet and the name fits- tastes like juice! Second favorite was Door #3. The chile vodka tastes like fresh picked bell peppers and was strangely refreshing and delicious. The Permanent Vacation was way too strong for me and I had to swap with my partner because I couldn’t enjoy it. The others we tried were great as well!!
For food, we got the Tuna Tartare as an appetizer and we thought it was good. Nothing over the top amazing but we enjoyed it. We spilt the Fried Shrimp Po’ Boy Sandwich with fries and the Seafood Gumbo. The sandwich was simple but yummy. The lettuce inside is dressed with Italian vinaigrette and I could just eat the sandwich with the lettuce it was so good. Other than that it’s topped with the fried shrimp and a drizzle of hot sauce. The secret sauce comes on the side and ties the toppings well together. The fries were suuuuper good, toasty and seasoned. The Seafood Gumbo was slightly spicy and I could bathe in it. The rice sits in the center of the broth therefore making it a bit mushy and I wish there was a little bit more seafood- but we were in love with it. Light but delicious!
Our waitress was super sweet as well and w loved having her as our server.
