On 01/07/2026, we decided to revisit the Queen & Rook for a quick bite. We were in the mood for pizza, and since I had tried every pie on the menu except for the fall veggie, we decided to give it a try. The fall veggie pizza comes with oyster mushrooms, roasted red peppers, red onion, spinach, and garlic housemade marinara with your choice of vegan or regular mozzarella. We opted to add vegan sausage crumbles to take it up a notch.

For drinks, we chose a pot of “Computer Eyes” hot tea, which had a cute name that aligned with the restaurant’s theme. The tea was made with lavender, Elderberry, peppermint, and honey, and it was absolutely excellent. It was a very relaxing tea that we enjoyed together. We also shared a turmeric golden milk latte with oat milk and honey, which was perfectly done – smooth, silky, a little bit peppery, and creamy. It was the perfect choice to warm our souls on a chilly night.

The pizza itself was done perfectly, with a nice crispy crust on the underside and loaded with toppings. The vegan cheese was oozing and delicious. Not stopping there, we decided to indulge in a warm brookie with vegan vanilla cream for dessert. Our server, Riley, was excellent – very accommodating and ever present. It is safe to say that we love this place and can’t get enough of it.

Back at Queen and Rook, one of my favorite places, I find myself in love with this establishment all over again. The atmosphere exudes warmth and invitation, with the staff always ready to greet you with a smile. What I appreciate most about them is their imperfection – it adds to the charm and genuineness of the place. Their food consistently delights my taste buds, and their willingness to accommodate any dietary needs is a welcomed gesture.

Visitors to Queen and Rook come here to relax and enjoy good food, surrounded by friends and family. The extensive collection of over 2500 board games provides hours of entertainment, catering to a wide range of preferences. Additionally, the arcade in the basement takes patrons on a nostalgic trip back to the 80s and 90s with its selection of great games.

For me, Queen and Rook holds a special place in my heart. I’ve frequented this spot numerous times this summer, and the anticipation of my next visit already warms my heart.

We tried different appetizer and they were delicious! Their drinks were also pretty good but my oh my did they have many games!! They even have a “game expert” where you’d tell them what you’re searching for and they’ll help you or pick a game for you. Probably more fun with a bigger group because the main floor has huge tables for that specifically. Over all would definitely recommend and go again

Love a solid board game meet-up place with a bar menu! They charge a fee for renting/playing their stock of games spread across three floors. There’s a cool arcade in the basement. Please be aware that they don’t serve meat—all vegetarian and vegan options. The pizza was surprisingly great and the spinach artichoke and vegan burger was ok. The ambiance is cozy and I dig the old tavern vibe. Knocked a star off for the service. Not sure if it’s the staffing but there was only one waiter at the time of our visit and it was busy! My burger came way too late that my party finished their food before I started. We should’ve asked for garlic and red pepper flakes for the at the time of ordering but it was delivered late and the pizza was almost gone. I’d return to play games but yield to ordering unless you don’t mind the long wait.

We had a wonderful evening here. The shelves are overflowing with great games – so much to take in! My daughter is vegan so the menu is perfect for her – with many great pub-grub plant-based options. The wait staff is friendly and they have encyclopedic gaming knowledge. Next time we will hit the vintage arcade game section.

Holy crap, this place is amazing. This is the best board game bar we’ve been to, and we’ve been to many places across North America. The food is great, the drinks are great, and the game library is world-class. They’re clean, complete, and they have folks on staff there to recommend games. I don’t mind the library access fee if it means they can deliver this level of service. I didn’t even touch on the arcade in the basement, either. The staff is great and passionate, to boot. If we lived locally we’d be regulars here for sure.

The only complaint I have is the ceilimg fans in the main room cast flickering shadows across the entire room. Apart from that, the vibes are incredible.

9/10 would recommend

Came here for lunch with some friends and I can’t wait to go back!! They had an unbelievable amount of games, and a game master who comes around to help suggest/find games to fit your party! The food was so good, and they have lots of vegan options. The owner and the staff were all so kind and knowledgeable as well!

Our organization hosts many events here and the staff has been nothing but helpful, kind and attentive. Running our sessions here is a blast and thanks to the help of Dallas, who’s in charge of events, we’ve been able to use Queen and Rook as one of our main event venues.

The food is delicious, the game selection is super impressive, the drinks are fabulous, and the staff is so kind. Definitely recommend!

I brought my date here and let me tell you, if your person enjoys a unique date night experience (and is a fan of games) she is gonna love this place. The staff was super helpful and helped pick out a few games that we really enjoyed! We weren’t vegetarians but the food was still good, plus they have regular food options. The booths were the perfect space for us to have our alone time and just enjoy each other and some cool games.

Some local friends took us here when we visited the city. If I could give ten stars I absolutely would. What a truly wonderful space. The food is good, the drinks (both cocktails and mocktails) are EXCELLENT, and I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful the staff are. A plus? Board game time with friends in a really cool building. I 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a fun night in Philly.

Had a phenomenal experience at Queen and Rook. Staff was so helpful with board game recommendations and even helped us learn the rules. Service was quick. Some of our food could’ve been better this time, but we’ve had great food there in the past. Such a good atmosphere there too.
