I recently had lunch at The Quarterdeck in Edgartown, and it was an absolute delight. The picturesque setting on Memorial Wharf, with views overlooking Chappaquiddick, set the perfect backdrop for a good meal. The Lobster Roll was simple yet bursting with sweet lobster flavor. The succulent chunks of lobster were perfectly dressed, letting the natural sweetness of the seafood shine. It was a true taste of Martha’s Vineyard in every bite.

As for the Mozzarella Sticks, they were a crispy, gooey delight. The breading was just right, providing a satisfying crunch that gave way to the warm, melted cheese inside. It was a perfect appetizer to start the meal.

This spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic Martha’s Vineyard flavors in a charming coastal setting.

No tables, no cash. Takeout only.
But this seafood shack represents the best value in the island and it is very conveniently located in the heart of Edgartown.

Lobster roll is pretty solid. New England clam chowder is tasty. Clam strips and other fried foods are beyond edible. Tastes like all ingredients are from the frozen section of Restaurant Depot, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that as long as the line cook knows how to prepare those frozen foods. And they do more than an adequate job at it.

I was getting a little bit tired of overpriced and under-portioned meals at the island. And I discovered this place and it was a treat.

the best fried clam strip we’ve had, the clam chowder was comfy and tasty, the fish and ships was nice but not crispy as it should, like the place, the girl was super nice and fast , recommend it

Super friendly person behind the counter. Yes, it’s cash only, but there’s an ATM there if needed (though the fee for cash at a bank ATM is likely better). Bring cash, and you save all around.

There is no dine-in… it’s a seafood and sandwich stand… but there are shared and shaded picnic tables near the Chappy ferry less than 50 yards away. Just be aware it can often be VERY windy there, so batten down your hatches (or clam strips).

Food was very good, but the clam strips were overcooked, and the oil in the fryer was nearing it’s end (I ran restaurants, so I know). Recommended, but not exceedingly so.

We stopped by The Quarterdeck to pick up food for a beach picnic. Ordered the lobster roll and the fish and chips. The lobster meat was delicious, but the bun was a soggy hot dog bun! The fried fish was good as well, but we were astonished that we only received one small piece of fish in the $17 fish and chips! It was well-cooked and seasoned but we were expecting more than one piece!! Perhaps a disclaimer!

Recently, on my first trip to Martha’s Vineyard, I wandered through the streets of Edgartown one soft summer night hoping to find a walk-up cafe where I could just order a classic New England clam chowder and fish sandwich. Following my nose, I came upon the Quarterdeck counter on Dock St. Asking a patron for the process, she urged me to approach the clerk and place my order. Best chowder, except for the cafe at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, and fish sandwich I have ever had. I even ran into a young JFK relative awaiting his order! NB: Cash only.

The fried food was hot and fresh, but their policy of not allowing paying customers to have tap water with their food seems designed to sell expensive bottled water that adds dollars to the tab and wastes single-use plastic. There’s no justification in the United States to refuse customers clean, drinkable tap water at the expense of our environment (and wallets).

I know all the food is fried but was still Very greasy. We ordered the fried shrimp, fish & chips, whole belly clams, chicken tenders, and clam chowder. The shrimp was completely flavorless as if it had been thawed jn water before frying. The fish was decent. The clam chowder was very acid which was strange based on the traditional ingredients in a chowder.
