The food was spot on. The menu is simple and easy to navigate, which I prefer. We tried the ribs, brisket, and chicken, and every bit of it was delicious, lean, and perfectly cooked. The ribs were a standout, and they have this honey sauce that is 10/10. We also had their onion appetizer, which is basically a really elevated version of a Bloomin’ Onion.
We did have a small hiccup where we were seated and forgotten for about 10 minutes, but the manager was great—he caught the mistake and brought us a free appetizer, which totally made up for it. After that, the service was quick and very attentive.
Parking can be a bit tight and the building is tucked back from the street, but it’s a highly successful spot for a reason. Whether you’re a local or a business traveler, it’s a perfect place for a casual afternoon or a solid dinner. I’ll definitely be back many more times.
Here’s where the trouble lies portion size vs dollar amount. You waaaaaay over pay. My buddy and I travel to one new bbq place every weekend or every other weekend.
For 60 dollars my girlfriend got a sandwich, fries and drink and I got a platter.
Platter contained probably 6oz of meat at best. 2 pieces of brisket, 5 little sausage round not even a whole sausage fried and drink. It looked like a kids plate. I’ve eaten at probably 30 BBQ places in kc and this was absolutely the worst portion to dollar. K&m being best portion to dollar and best taste.
Don’t get enough for the money. Seriously a joke. This was my sandwich killer combo from k&m last week. Our cost there was 20 bucks less more food better taste. K&m rated top 5 in kc in wall street Journal. Will never eat Q39 again. Pic of killer combo sandwich. And a 25 dollar 3 meat platter from another BBQ place. That brisket is 3 pieces one thicker than my phone with cover.
From when we sat down Christee was sure to let us know what to try her great recommendations 10/10 food and service!! Would definitely return!
I ordered the judges plate which consisted of picking three items. I chose ribs, pulled pork, and brisket with two sides of street corn and potato salad.
The ribs were barbecued to perfection as what are the brisket, the pulled pork left a little to be desired. The barbecue sauce that comes with it was very tasty but a bit sweet for my liking.
The sides, potato salad, and corn, were fantastic! Probably the best potato salad I’ve ever tasted.
Great beer, selection, and the atmosphere was pretty good. I sat in the bar since I was there by myself and did not make reservations, but I was comfortable surrounded by good people, and Katie, the waitress was very attentive and professional.
If you’re in town, come, eat here!
