Atmosphere is nice, service is good, food was good but the portions are tiny by Chinese restaurant standards and there were misses. The duck bao was a disappointment. It was two teeny little baos, literally one bite each. I was expecting sandwich baos (gua bao) style. And there was hardly any filling, which for the $11 price tag is a rip off. Soup dumplings at $16 for just 4 was steep, as most places that price would get you 6-8, however I will say they were delicious. Bok choy was good but very small portion for $22. Most Chinese restaurants would charge you just $15 for sautéed bok choy. Yangzhou fried rice was good, not salty and no complaints. Chow fun was good too, but again, very small portion by Chinese restaurant standards. Walnut bao was a delicious dessert, tiny portion. 4.5 star experience. We had closer to a 5 star experience because we weren’t too hungry, we were a party of 3 and we didn’t need or want leftovers. However if you came with a big group wanting to try many things or if you come very hungry, you might get annoyed at the portions.

My family and I came for an early dinner and we were one of the only ones there in like a Sunday evening.
We ordered the eggplant fries, chili garlic eggplant, tofu skin salad, bok choy with tofu skin, and the mapo tofu.
It was all great. We were so hungry we just ate without talking until we were finished. There was enough for leftovers which like yay!
Favorite dish was the tofu skin salad.
Another good restaurant experience at a Peter Chang location.

Saw an influencer raving about this so off we went to try for ourselves. So glad we did, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We opted for the AUCE dim sum which they offer on the weekends. Part of what I liked about this is you order off the menu not a rolling cart coming by like many dim sum places. This way I could read through all the options and know what I wanted to try. And not be disappointed if I ordered something I didn’t like. But this was not an issue here, there was nothing we ordered that wasn’t delicious!!! Dave kept asking what my favorite dish was but I couldn’t answer, it was all so good! So many choices but we couldn’t fit in all of what we wanted to try. We can’t wait to go back to try other dishes! The staff was always checking in with us, offered suggestions and made sure our teapot stayed filled. Do yourself a favor and go try it for yourself!

The service here is excellent, all of our servers were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our meal but the orange chicken and the mountain chicken were both overly sweet. The 4 pepper chicken on the other hand was very tasty and flavorful. HIGHLY recommend the black sesame custard bao.

This is not my first dining experience at Q, but I must say this has been the worst experience I have ever had, starting right from the reservation process.
I am unsure when the reservation policy changed, but customers are now not only required to call for a booking but also must send an email to obtain the party menu.
Despite completing all these requirements, I have received no reply from Q’s reservation manager, nor any confirmation via text.
I have never had such a bad experience. I felt treated like a “grumbling nut” by your unprofessional and impatient operators, who seemed to be under the weather that day. Their attitude made me feel disrespected as a customer.
I made two calls for reservation and confirmation, yet I could not get any specific information or direction from your customer service associates. I do not take it for granted that the service fee or gratuity for a party room is worth such an amount.
Your female associate (on Feb 20, 11 am) and male associate (on Feb 24, 5 pm) who took my calls were snarky, dismissive, and short with me. They were a complete disgrace to your service standards.
Good service is not just about the cuisine itself; it is about being customer-oriented, accommodating, and showing empathy.
Fine catering should be accompanied by a professional spirit.

Stopped by Q by Peter Chang. The place wasn’t packed and service was just okay, not the friendliest. Drinks and apps were good, and most of the entrees were solid, but the Dragon Eggplant was pretty bland. Dessert was a miss, the Mango Pomelo Tapioca wasn’t our thing at all (one bite was enough). Overall, not bad, but I’ll stick with Peter Chang’s in Gaithersburg since it’s closer and consistently better in my opinion.

I recently invited Professor Michael B., a long-time colleague and friend over three decades, for a lunch gathering at Q By Peter Chang, located in the heart of downtown Bethesda, Maryland.
This elegant restaurant is the flagship of the Peter Chang Restaurant Group, which boasts over a dozen establishments across Maryland, Virginia, and Connecticut. Mr. Peter Chang himself is a culinary legend. Originally from China and trained in traditional Chinese cuisine, he once served as a chef at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., where he famously prepared a meal for former Chinese President Hu Jintao. Though known for his mastery of Szechuan cuisine, Q By Peter Chang offers a variety of curated menu that includes dishes from various regions of China.
Our culinary journey began with the restaurant’s signature puffed sesame bread, a stunning balloon-like creation that’s both fun and flavorful. As a first course, we shared their Peking Duck, prepared with an elaborate technique and served with all the traditional accompaniments.
Next came Crabmeat and Pork Soup Dumplings, known as Xiaolongbao—a delicacy from Jiangsu cuisine. The delicate skins and rich broth were excellent.
Because my friend enjoys spicy dishes, we ordered a trio of bold and flavorful options: Sichuan Boiled Fish, Sichuan Spicy Beef Dips, and Sautéed Cumin Lamb—the last being a classic from Xinjiang cuisine. Each dish was distinctive and well-executed, showcasing the diversity of regional Chinese flavors.
To accompany the meal, we enjoyed a glass of chilled Qingdao Beer and soothing jasmine blossom green tea, balancing the spice with refreshing and aromatic notes.
Though the lunch leaned on the pricier side—costing about two and one-third Benjamins—it was well worth it. After all, a reunion over exceptional food with a dear friend and long-time colleague is something no price can truly measure.

We liked everything that we ordered. Peking Duck was really good. We liked making the little rolls with the accouterments. Dumplings are always good whichever you pick will be good. Scallion pancake was gigantic though I thought it needed a spicy accompliment. The dragon eggplant was spot on. It was one of those dishes that looked so pretty you almost didnt want to ruin it by eating it. A very generous portion. Tasted great. We had the oolong tea which my wife adores and I had a non alcoholic drink that was very tasty. This is the kind of place that you could randomly point to anything on the menu and go home boasting that it was the best thing you have eaten in a long while. A special place for sure. A great place to eat before going to the Round House Theater.
