Social Profile:

Purple Patch is a Filipino American Restaurant located in the beautiful historic district of Mount Pleasant in Washington, DC that opened in March of 2015. Our restaurant is Woman, Veteran, and Minority owned. Our Chef and Owner, Patrice Cleary, focuses on highlighting the different nuances of Filipino cuisine while showcasing what it means to her. This is done through an artistic approach while respecting and appreciating tradition. We have a large streetery outside that is covered and can seat 90 guests. The streetery has heat lamps in the winter during the colder weather. Inside we have 2 beautiful bars, a large downstairs dining room and a private event space that can host a seated dinner for 35 or a standing reception for 50.

A chill bi-level spot offering American comfort fare, Filipino specialties & herb-infused cocktails.

My wife and I had reservations so there was no wait. Parking had its general city issues so plan ahead or use spot hero to secure a garage spot at a good price.

The food was spectacular. The garlic rice is worth the upgrade and the short rib adobo was rich and savory. It did have a strong vinegar taste so if that’s not your preferred flavor profile, I recommend other dishes.

The ube pancakes and lechón were definitely the star. The pancakes were fluffy and perfect sweet. The lechón was crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside.

I am glad we tried the champurrado. Think rice crispy cereal with a rich chocolate sauce and condensed milk with coconut flakes. It was a hit too sweet for my liking but my wife loved it.

We went during brunch so the restaurant had some loud tables but that’s to be expected. Service was okay and the food came out quickly.

Yum!!! I grew up eating a lot of filipino food so this felt right at home! The lumpia is an absolute must. I also looooved the pork adobo especially for breakfast where they add eggs on top. The pancit was also soooo good. It’s nice to have this right in DC. Make sure to get a reservation because it gets packed in here! We came for brunch on a Saturday and called in beforehand to reserve a table and we are so glad we did. I saw a lot of cute dates here! It leans more casual but it is so cozy and cute. There’s also a bar right when you enter if you want something even more chill!

Came here for dinner recently on a Saturday night—the restaurant is small but was crowded, I would suggest making reservations.

The Arroz Caldo (rice soup with chicken) was so delicious! The crispy garlic gave the soup so much more flavor. Enjoyed the Spicy Adobe Fried Chicken Entrée—not really spicy, huge portion, and I wished the chicken was more crispy because the sauce made it soggy quick. Also preferred garlic rice versus the spicy adobe rice. Pork Sinigang and Pancit Canton were good too. For cocktails, was not a fan of the Ube Mojito—tasted bitter and lacked any sweet or carbonated taste. For dessert, the Warm Pandesal & Ube Ice Cream was okay.

Service was good and food came out fairly quick. Prices seemed reasonable as well. Parking is difficult to find—all street parking so factor in time to find parking.

Had an amazing experience at this Filipino spot! Adabo chicken highly recommended. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was packed with authentic flavor and tasted freshly made. You can really tell a lot of care goes into the cooking. The desserts were just as impressive, the perfect sweet finish to the meal. On top of that, the service was warm and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend to anyone craving great Filipino food!

We had the Kamayan service and it was a special experience with delicious food. Chef Patrice Cleary took time to also talk with us and set our table. She told us her incredible story of her service and passion for food and her culture. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for its food and hospitality. Thank you for a wonderful night. Semper Fidelis Chef.

If you are looking for a cozy, welcoming vibe with the FRIENDLIEST service, & most importantly the most homey and flavor-packed food.. treat yourself to Purple Patch. The details they added to make your experience special was so appreciated during our dinner experience. Our server and the manager Dennis were especially helpful and accommodating – we ended up ordering a solid amount of food for ‘just 2 people’ and they ended up moving us to a bigger spot so we’d be more comfortable and made a cute little sign for us since we were celebrating a lil milestone <3 the food was just as mouth-watering as I remembered. shout out to the coconut short rib adobo - the best dish we ordered! Every time I go to DC, I make sure I visit and order their UBE BANANA BREAD WITH ice cream— it’s like tasting heaven & love at the same time HAHA I always take at least 2 extra orders to go for my trip back home LOL thank you to the PP team and Patrice for always making us feel so welcomed and full!

The appetizers were good ( we got the fried eggplant and the eggrolls) but the pinneaple fried rice and the pork belly noodle bowl were incredibly underwhelming and lacking in taste. We were disappointed and surprised since the reviews are amazing and it was hard to get a reservation. Maybe it was our fault not getting the infamous fried chicken but all together disappointed.

We aren’t certain how Purple Patch escaped our radar. But we are so glad our palates were pinged by this gem of a restaurant! In search of a mid-week brunch to celebrate my birthday, we were warmly greeted at 10:15 am by bartender Leo and escorted to our table through a lush and warmly decorated interior.

The potatoes were served first, chunky and hot. After we doused them in adobo sauce and garlic aioli, we couldn’t stop our forks from reaching toward the plate. Smoky, sour, garlicky. We felt almost greedy at the speed with which we popped the morsels into our mouths. Another serving and we would have been completely satiated.

Fortunately, our brunch plates then arrived: the decadent royal purple of the ube pancakes and dollop of creamy ube ice cream atop a perfectly crisped waffle, made us gasp in delight. The pancakes were so moist and so sweet, the maple syrup accompaniment was utterly unnecessary. A little dip of pancake and waffle in the macapuno (coconut) glaze was so very enjoyable with its crunchy slivers of sweet coconut.

If ube was the star of our plates, then the fried chicken was like eating the sun. Every bite was a brilliant explosion of flavor on the tongue. Juicy, tender with a crunchy crust, the hefty portion of chicken thighs must have been marinated for at least 8 hours because every piece was evenly savory. I sat back in my chair and loudly said “Mmmm!” as I swallowed my first bite, knife and fork poised for the next succulent slice.

Leo was kind enough to not only slip us an extra ramekin of the adobo sauce, but also allow a sample of the house gin. While I do not partake in alcohol, my husband was quite impressed with the smooth and surprisingly chocolate finish on the sip of gin.

Purple Patch will see us again soon. Very soon! (And maybe you too?)

First time and the food was very tasty and the service was amazing! The drinks aren’t worth it though because it’s very very small for the value. Especially the one with the mango and rum. I would suggest a bottle of wine. We did that and it was good. The skewers are great and the pickled stuff it came with was good. The curry chicken was tasty but had way too much fat for boneless thighs. The eggplant adobo was fantastic! The bread pudding was rubbery and hard ish but the ice cream was great. I would highly recommend this place!

An instant favorite! Food was flavorful and delicious. Service was quick & friendly. My only complaint is I need more than 5 lumpia per order lol. Will be back for sure!!
