Tremendously delicious ice cream. So many people want to try custard when they come to Milwaukee, but I encourage you to check out Purple Door ice cream. Their ice cream is absolutely fantastic and there’s such a nice variety of flavors. The staff is very customer oriented and will be glad to provide you with a sample taste of any of their flavors. Staff is also great at making recommendations.

We went on a highly scientific mission to find specialty ice cream and somehow accidentally ended up in Milwaukee’s historic Walker’s Point neighborhood at Purple Door Ice Cream. Honestly, solid choice.
I ordered a four-scoop flight because decision-making is overrated: fig & black tea, vegan cinnamon, brandy old fashioned, and road gravel. Road gravel sounds like a bad idea, but don’t worry — it’s salted caramel, chocolate chunks, peanuts, and chocolate cookie, and it knows what it’s doing.
If you’re in Milwaukee and thinking, “I could go for ice cream that’s a little extra,” this is your place. Get a scoop, get a flight, judge your friends’ choices — it’s all part of the experience.

Pretty solid ice cream shop. I would have liked to see a little more variety in flavors, but the flavors I did try were very good. I got a mini flight, and I love that for an option. It even came with mini cones on top! My favorite flavor was the bourbon espresso chocolate chip.

The ice cream was delicious – I especially enjoyed the one with local cherries and the Old Fashioned flavor, and even the plain vanilla was excellent. The girls working there were very friendly, explained the flavors, and made the visit such a pleasant experience. Thank you for the great mood!

Delicious, creamy ice cream! They have a wide variety of flavors along with several original. We had a single scoop of Cinnamon Ice Cream in a cup and it was DELICIOUS!!! They offer several options of cones or cup! And they also sell pints and ice cream sandwiches to go. They have plenty of seating- both inside and outside – to enjoy your ice cream.

Great ice cream and flavors. We had Door County cherry chocolate chip and salted caramel. Both were good. Plenty of free samples to decide. Gave a 5 because taste, flavors and service were all excellent. Do wish they’d let us sit inside when it’s so hot and humid.

Made Purple Door Ice Cream our last stop in the city before heading home. They offer some more untraditional flavors of hand dipped ice cream. The scoops were pretty generous. It was good ice cream, but not necessarily a place I’d say you have to go to, especially in Wisconsin where there is plenty of good ice cream everywhere you turn.

Purple Door Ice Cream is amazing! One of the highlights is being able to watch the ice cream being made right through the glass window—it was such a fun and unique experience. The staff were very friendly, and the ice cream itself was high quality, not overly sweet, and generously packed with fresh ingredients. With so many flavors to choose from, every bite felt special. Just thinking about the visit brings back such a joyful memory, and I can’t wait to go again!
