Ordered some tacos and they had the plastic from the tooth pick in them. This is place I usually come to eat Salvadoran food and I’ve never had this issue. The food is good but whoever is taking care of things now needs to do better. I couldn’t enjoy my tacos while having to pick out this amount of plastic out of them, and on top of that it’s blue. It’s nasty. Please make sure someone is checking orders before putting them out.

Worst pupusas I had ever had. I can only give it a one star for rating purposes but I wish I could give it a negative rating. I order pupusas for 3 people. Six (6) beans and cheese four (4) cheese and zucchini and one revuelta.
The 6 beans and cheese were not mixed together the cheese was in one size and the beans in the other side. Some of the pupusas had only beans and the other side was corn flower. A thick corn flower side. The revueltas (beans, pork and beans) were not mix either they had the cheese on one of the flat sides and on the opposite the half bean half pork. The beans side of each of them were burned or dried.
I called to complain and the girl told me that that’s how they are made. What??? I’m Mexican (and love a good pupusa) but my wife is Salvadorian so I know how a pupusas is made. The girl told me they would make them again but would not give me my money back. Why would I go get fresh pupusas if they make them this way??
DON’T dine here. Stay away. Bad service (if the customer is not satisfied then their motto is ‘too bad’). Bad food.

This place tends to have long wait times regardless if it’s busy or not. The staff are friendly. The food is consistent, pretty good. The only thing is we did find a hair in the pupusas we ordered the other night so they should try and be more careful.

On July 31, 2025, at 6:34 PM, I called to place an order and was informed it would be ready in 30 minutes. I paid for my order, and afterward, I was told it would actually be ready in just 5 minutes. However, I ended up waiting 19 minutes after payment, and my food was still not ready.
This experience was very frustrating. For a business, it’s important to provide clear communication and timely service, and unfortunately, that didn’t happen in this case.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve the process for future customers.

If you’re looking for delicious pupusas, Pupuseria La Familiar is not the place to go. The pupusas here are a disgrace to the dish’s traditional recipe. The masa is too thick and hard, making it difficult to chew and leaving a pasty feeling in your mouth. The filling is also mediocre at best, lacking flavor and depth.
To make matters worse, the curtido is plain and unappetizing. It lacks the tangy and acidic flavor that is characteristic of this pickled cabbage slaw. Additionally, the salsa is watery and flavorless, adding no value to the already disappointing pupusas.
Overall, Pupuseria La Familiar fails to deliver on the quality and taste of their pupusas. The thick and hard masa, lackluster filling, plain curtido, and watery salsa make for an unappetizing meal that is not worth the visit. If you’re looking for authentic and delicious pupusas, you’re better off trying another restaurant.

Wow. I didn’t get the pupusas, but the taquitos, and vegetable chicken sandwich were absolutely stunning. I adored the sandwich, the red sauce was magic.
