This place really fell off. Back in 2020-2021 this place used to smack. Now the food tastes super bland like an American spot. Definitely not authentic. I ordered a shrimp taco and the one taco has 0 shrimp on it. Whereas it has all lettuce and tomato. The other taco had 2 pieces

I have driven by for years until one day I went in. The food, phenomenal! The drinks, phenomenal! The service, phenomenal!
It is super small, hole in the wall type of place but sooo worth it to try. The birria tacos were not only reasonably priced but mouth watering leaving you both stuffed and wanting to order more.
In total spent under $100 on me, my husband and toddler and for the amount of food and drink we got it was an absolute steal.
The atmosphere really brings a whole vibe. The decor is over the top and beautiful. Absolutely must try them, if you regret it get your taste buds checked by a medical professional.

Very authentic Mexican vibe! Loved the colorful decor. Parking right out front. Service was attentive, helpful and pleasant. In the northen burrito the shredded beef had the perfect spice, excellent guacamole, beans and rice. Consider the chimichangas a very light deep frying and loaded with great ingredients. Finish off with in house made Tres Leche! I will definitely go back!

I lived in Mexico City for 3 years and this is the most authentic Mexican food I have found! We have loved dining in and ordering take out for years, so we decided to cater with them for our wedding Rehearsal dinner. We ordered Tacos, Corn, Salad, Chips and Guacamole, churros, and so much more. Everything was SO FRESH and delicious, all of our guests were raving about how it was the best Mexican food they had ever tasted. We are still enjoying all of the delicious leftovers months later! I highly recommend Puerta Mexicana for a lovely meal or to cater a special event. The owner was lovely and very easy to work with. 🙂

Very small place but the food and atmosphere is worth a stop. Come there hungry as the food is not tiny portions. My favorite is the shredded chicken bowl with so much goodness! They do a great takeout too!

I’m a Californian visiting my sister on Long Island. They brought me here. I initially turned my nose up because Mexican food has no comparison to San Diego. Boy was I wrong. The place is delightful. Food is great and the service is fantastic. This is a must!
