Known as the eclectic neighborhood gastropub, Pubbelly Sushi brings a hyper-creative fusion of Japanese and Latin-inspired dishes by chef José Mendín. When Mendín founded the first Pubbelly, his intention was singular: Create a place where chefs could eat high-quality, affordable dishes in a cool atmosphere. Pubbelly became an instant locals’ favorite when it opened in 2010. Lauren at Pubbelly was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely so sweet. She made great recommendations, checked on us at the perfect times, and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. The food was absolutely amazing. But the service was definitely slow. We were seated rather quickly, but after that. It felt like it took awhile for someone to come and take our drink order or even get someones attention to order. The food makes up for the service. I would visit any pubbelly in the area if available. The sushi is amazing. The wings were a tad bit overcooked. The donut/crab sliders wasn’t what we expected. It was more of a seafood salad mix with honey dripped on top.

Iveth was the one who took care of me, and her service was exceptional. She was very attentive, friendly, and helped me choose some great options from the menu that made the experience even better.

We came in with a group on a Monday night and shared a variety of small plates and sushi rolls. Lauren was incredibly attentive and made the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. Standout dishes for me were the Big Eye Roll, the Butter Crab, and the short rib dumplings — everything was fresh and full of flavor.

My friend and I sat at the bar on a Tuesday early evening and were met with some great deals. All the handrolls were $12 and they also had happy hour deals. It was great! My friend couldn’t drink any alcohol and asked for a mocktail, when I tell you I wanted to give back my beer and order the same refreshing cucumber concoction is an understatement. Sara, our bartender, also overheard us say we were celebrating a big and scary health related milestone for my friend, and surprised us with her favorite dessert, bread pudding. The rolls we ordered were delicious, the service exceptional, and the overall experience was definitely something I would like to repeat.

Sofia provide us with amazing service today! I hadn’t been here in a while because the last time I was here the service was absolutely horrific. She greeted us within two minutes and was very friendly and offered suggestions.
