If the seasonal eggnog is still there and you like whisky and eggnog I highly recommend a glass. It’s not amazing but it’s good. It’s cold BTW so don’t expect it hot or warm which is a shame.
Steak street tacos, juicy, fresh, seasoned well. For me it was slightly over cooked. For my partner who was eating the dish it was perfect. No accounting for taste i like a bit of pink in my meat. Sauces and sides amazing. The rice cilantro lime, not bad better then some but nothing to write home about. I did like the green color however that made me think about how they got it like that. Did they soak the rice in a cilantro puree, or do they buy the rice bagged and seasoned?
The honey brussel sprouts fairly good.
As an appetizer we had the corn bread. I would describe this as a slightly sweet buttery, moist corn donut missing the hole. That said I was not pleased as it was a bit soggy, and I thought it had just a bit too much grease or lard in the cooking.
The Philly was good same meat cut that was used for the steak street tacos. Seasoned differently, seasoned fries good, fantastic really.
The fish and chips. By the light and my hope in salvation; this could could have been michelin star quality. So they’ll talk a big game about how the owner went over to Europe. How he found a new style of fish instead of using paddock for fish and chips, possibly he found the batter there as well. That’s all well and good. If your facilitating an old folk’s home, these 2 fish fillets were firm, juicy, well cooked. The batter was like flour, egg wash, and it tasted like cake batter or a cake flour mixed in as well. Maybe a little fine milled corn meal. Had there been any seasoning in it or had the fish sat in a salt brine overnight, one could have enjoyed it. Everything about it was perfect, except for seasoning. When you hear about culinary complaints of people who don’t season their food. This plate of fish in chips is the enigma of what makes that mockery reality. The sheer comedy of it. The seasoned fries were like the lid popped off the seasoning for my fries. They were so salty and so covered in the seasoning. I couldn’t wipe it off and I couldn’t use any amount of ketchup or Mayonnaise to drown it out. The tartar sauce, well not even going to mention it because it tasted like any of the shelf tartar sauce. When I make mine… well no need to put that here.
The Star pupil of this dish. The only thing that it had redeeming was the Hush Puppies. They were moist cornmeal, just like a cake firmness. Packed full of flavor, just the right levels of seasoning, very aromatic. A dream to eat really. And since it was the star of the dish, I only ate half of one because I assumed there was probably cheese in it. It should be noted the cheese issue is a personal one. In all I ate two bites of my fish, six fries and a half of a hush puppy.
I have this place the 4/5 because by is name is a PUB so in truth if your drunk and you can’t taste anything in this upscale bar then the food would seem amazing to you.
Our servers were sweet both times. I like to get club sodas with lime & this place has good ones.
The Nashville hot fries are yum! The chicken has nice crunch and the ranch is good. The house pickles IMO are not pickles, as in they are have not pickled long enough- but that’s good if you like a crunchy cucumber.
My husband liked his tacos. I have really enjoyed their cheeseburgers but I recommend to sub the bun for a pretzel one! Gives it a nice taste & chew. The fries are crispy and addicting.
Overall a fun place to hit & casually catch up!
The parking lot is unfortunately too small to cater to both highly popular restaurants. Busy days bleed into the bank’s parking lot next door.
Savannah was my bartender/server and did a fantastic job. She smiled, made good and contact and had a good handle on her bar and the customers . A welcoming manager, Darren came by and introduced himself and asked how he was enjoying the wine I had ordered in my meal. As I was leaving, he thanked me for coming . The day I arrived, they had a chicken casserole- type special. savanna said that it was one of the employees mother’s recipes. It sounded wonderful. I did not order it myself, however I did see it come out of the kitchen, and it looked fabulous. I will try it next time. Restrooms are clean and neat and the entire facility is an excellent condition. Looks like they’ve got a great patio and we will enjoy that when it warms up.
