We recently had our 17 year anniversary dinner at Prime. It was PHENOMENAL!! Let me first start with how it all went down. Initially I chose a different restaurant that had just opened in the area. It was a bit of a hush hush opening, and the menu was not posted right away. Turns out, it was not what we were looking for, so I sought elsewhere. We have been to Prime a total of 4 times since opening. For us, we always had a good experience, with the most recent before last, fantastic. We walked in with no reservations on a weekend. This last visit, blew us away! I did want to try a new place, or have a different dining experience than usual, so I thought giving Prime’s ‘TRUST US’ option sounded right up our alley, but at the same time, we were nervous to receive something we did not care much for. ‘I did seek community members opinions on social media. Reviews were not that great actually. I was messaged by the GM, and she explained that they strive for the absolute best, and yes, they are not perfect, but would hope we would give them a try. For the record, she also commented to each individual that had a bad experience in the past, and welcomed them to message her direct and see what they could do to make it right.
With all of that said, Kaitlyn asked what we were looking for, for our dinner. Likes, dislikes etc. I commented on looking for a great Prime Rib, and recent Brussel sprouts that we had on vacation in FL. I mentioned we planned to try the cauliflower to compare to another restaurant in the area. I also mentioned that we had had the Bone marrow recently and loved it.
Upon arrival, we felt immediately welcomed. We walked in to our table with a bouquet of flowers to take home, a nice handwritten card, and the craziest part, a CURATED MENU! Just for us! (We also were presented with the regular menu, just in case-we did not even open it!) We had the marrow, but it it came with tartar this time. And If I could use a drool emoji I would, but laptops lol. We had the firecracker cauliflower and it was absolutely perfect! Perfect breading, light, thin, crispy. The Cauliflower was cooked perfectly. And it was not drowning in sauce! That can get overwhelming, and if you plan to take leftovers, too much sauce just ruins it! We did take some home, but it did not make it overnight. 🙂 SOOOO Delicious! We both had a house salad that was very fresh and the perfect amount of veggies. The PRIME RIB! wow! That was the STAR of the meal. Perfectly cooked and gorgeous! Just look at that picture! (I forgot to snap one before I dug in 🙂 And the Brussels sprouts, NAILED IT!!!! The truffle mash melted in our mouths! We opted for the Cheesecake as well, but brought home to our daughters who made quick work of it!
Our Server Braxtyn was top notch! And apparently her 2nd service! I would never have guessed. She was courteous, attentive, and very efficient! I grew up serving and have worked fine dining to ihop. I notice the little things, which to me, as a guest are nearly the most important part of the experience.
I cannot say enough about Kaitlyn and ALL of the staff at Prime. I would HIGHLY Encourage you to seek her out, and Prime for your next special occasion. Why NOT make it memorable and feel like VIPS! For me, experience trumps cost. We knew we would spend more than average, and we were certainly ok with it. For us, it was the best anniversary dinner we have ever had. We plan to use Prime for our next special occasion! Thank you again! <3

We arrived on Valentine’s Day Eve. We had made reservations for 14 adults and 6 teenage children. We were seated right away and the first four in the door had a drink brought to them right away. As the rest of the group showed up, our server was no where to be found. Our group waited about 25 minutes and no one came around to ask if we would like water, mixed drinks or soda. Finally a couple of people got up to go place an order at the bar. They were turned back to our table as “ordering at the bar will confuse your server and back up the bartender.”
We went back to the table and the server had finally arrived and began taking drink orders.
Drinks finally came out about 15-20 minutes later.
That would be the last time anyone came around and asked for drink refills until after we were almost done eating.
As for eating, we were informed that the were out of the aged ribeye when someone tried to order this advertised meal. The walleye was a very small portion and for a fish that should be white and flaky with almost bland, this fillet was pink and very fishy tasting.
The salmon with stuffed crab was very good. The stuffed crab saved the meal as it offered great flavor to a little over cooked salmon. The asparagus and potatoes had clearly been warmed up in a microwave, but they were fine.
Those that ordered steaks said even though they ordered medium rare to medium, all steaks showed up medium to medium well. When I spend 60-80 dollars on a steak I do expect it to be cooked how I order it.
The biggest disappointment of the meal (besides being out of the ribeye) was the tomahawk steak. For 160 dollar piece of meat it was deemed “just ok” by a guy who orders these often. The steak was cooked well but some portions were inedible due to the fat and gristle.
The highlight of the meal was probably the burger. The burger was perfectly done, melted in your mouth and had great flavor. This was the one thing I personally ordered and I was not disappointed. The least expensive thing on the menu was probably the best tasting option.
Now onto the service and bill:
Service was not good at all. We truly felt that our group would be making an ambitious server’s night! We travel a lot and when we have a night free from young kids we will order several expensive drinks, dinner and desserts and we tip between 25-35% for
Good service.
We were offered a second chance at ordering drinks when most were already done with their meals. (While looking around and trying to hale down our server throughout dinner) No one asked if we would like dessert and it seemed all she wanted us to do was leave as quickly as possible. We did notice that there was a “standard gratuity” of 20% which was added to each of our bills. (This is fine and very customary) It seemed that our server felt she didn’t need to be friendly, personable or attentive as she was happy to get 20% on what would be close to a 1500 dollar bill.
With a little smile and hustle this bill could have easily been 3000 and without the auto gratuity we would have tipped even better.
This place has potential but they need to get people who appreciate someone willing to spend high dolllar in a small town.

The food was delicious. The tomahawk steak was not great for the price but good… highly recommend the Filet mignon, what aged ribeye truffle fries, and the artichoke dip. The waitressing staff was amazing. Thank you for a great experience.

We were really excited to try this place while visiting Morris for a week, it had great reviews and we really wanted a nice date night with our little girl. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t good. We got there and we received the appetizer first, personally I did not like but my husband loved. Then we ordered entrees , I got the salmon and he ordered a steak and our daughter got Mac and cheese, we waited close to an hour and our waitress finally brought out the steak and Mac and cheese and said they kept over cooking the salmon and had to remake it. My daughter Mac and cheese was not hot and wash hardened from sitting and waiting too long and so was my husband steak, it tasted dry, and cold and the sauce on the plate was hardened on the plate from sitting so long, he didn’t even want to finish it. Finally after waiting more than 20 minutes she said my salmon was almost done and I asked her to just put it in a to go box. My 2 year old was ready to leave and didn’t touch her food. Unfortunately I’m pregnant and was really hungry and upset. They offered a free dessert which we appreciated but it didn’t make up for an empty stomach for that long. When I ate my food the next day, I ended up puking it up, it tasted horrible. We did leave a review with the place on the back of the paycheck, but it’s been over a week and haven’t heard back. And we spent over $150 for this food and none of us ate it or finished it. This place does have good reviews though so maybe we just got there at an unlucky Monday evening.

Most people wouldn’t call Morris , Minnesota a destination city , but if you are in town , you should consider trying Prime Steakhouse . It was a great way to end the evening on a long day. Bonus points that the hotel gave us free drink tickets ! Highly recommend, I had the dry aged rib eye with mashed potatoes and Gouda Mac and cheese !

This is hands-down the absolute best steak I have ever had. I have a house in Florida and frequent Bern’s steakhouse in Tampa. This was beyond what they could ever serve. I have never tasted something as great as this. Will definitely be back.

Update: over the past six months I have came here a few times trying to get the same quality I had when the restaurant first opened and it has not happened. I was told they changed cooks and it is very very evident. The steak isn’t as good anymore. The Gorgonzola butter is just melted butter with a bunch of Gorgonzola at the bottom it’s not made into a cream like it was at the beginning. The steak is not nearly as thick and juicy. I can make the same steak that they have now at Lunds and make it in my grill. It’s sad!

Our office ordered take out for lunch. The hostess/server who greeted us was not friendly. When we went to pay for the orders which we had 2, she threw her tablet on the bar when she couldn’t find the keys. We paid for one order with a card, and the second with cash. She slammed the change down on the bar which was incorrect as she apparently tipped herself because those $2 went into her apron pocket.
As far as the food. I got the Walleye and Chips. The fries were decent but my walleye was fried hard and the inside was pink in color and not flakey at all. I’m not a fish expert, but I was expecting to at least be able to chew it and I could not.The others got a BLT and French Dip and they said theirs was good. I felt like for the amount of money we paid for our lunch I would have expected a little better from the service to the actual food.

Had a fabulous dinner here to celebrate a special day. The service was great, and our server answered all our questions about the menu. The chef came out to say hi and ask us how our food was (it was fantastic!). We had the rib eye and prime filet cooked to perfection, with loaded baked potato, smoked mac and cheese, and asparagus for sharable sides. The sauces that you can get were phenomenal as well. We shared with him what we were celebrating, and a little later, dessert was delivered to our table compliments of the chef for the celebration. Our experience made the day complete, something my family will always remember! Thank you to all the staff for making it a memorable day.

Appetizers were great! We had the bacon spinach dip.
Wague baseball sirloin was chewy and some bites were not palatable. Salad good. Wait staff friendly but seemed to ask same questions over again. Good wine!!!
