Delicious steaks and a friendly, chill atmosphere. Waiter offered to take our coats and was very attentive the entire evening. Place looked clean and stylish – looked amazing after dark with their tree lights at the front. Food was cooked well and tasted great, loved the peppercorn sauce especially. On the pricier side so keep that it mind but it was worth the price in my opinion.

We made the right choice to celebrate graduation here! The food was good, we ordered steaks and it was done as how we liked it, fish and a set menu. Mash really taste good. Atmosphere, by itself, interior is really good (and the choice of soft music). The service was superb! 1st we have amended our booking and they were very accommodating, food wait is not too long, waiter was polite and very professional, plus we made a request on the booking and they accommodated it (plus more extras)
Not sure if the extra is part of the promotion for graduation season but it really made our celebration special.

I came here for my birthday meal and had such a lovely experience. Everything—from the drinks to the steak and dessert—was amazing, and the peppercorn sauce really made it for me. The service was fantastic too; everyone was welcoming and friendly. A special mention to the bald waiter who was working on the 19th of September—he was absolutely lovely!
The only very small disappointment was that, although my booking noted it was for a birthday, nothing was done to acknowledge it, whereas I noticed other guests did receive a birthday gesture. Aside from that, I was really pleased with the evening and will definitely be back.

A Memorable Sunday Roast Experience
We had the pleasure of enjoying one of the finest Sunday roasts I’ve had in St Albans. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome. A special mention goes to Billy, our table waiter, who was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful—he took the time to walk us through the menu options with care.
What made the experience even more special was a lovely gesture from the team. A young lady (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch) discreetly informed Billy that it was my birthday. To my surprise and delight, they presented me with a complimentary crème brûlée—a thoughtful touch that truly elevated the occasion.
If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent food with heartfelt hospitality, I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Treat yourself—you won’t be disappointed.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve visited this branch many times over the years, as well as the one in Berkhamsted, and both locations consistently delivered five-star food and service — which makes this experience even more disappointing.
I waited an entire hour for a steak that arrived completely inedible. It was so tough that even a steak knife couldn’t cut through it. Serving something in that condition is utterly unacceptable and shows a shocking lack of quality control.
That said, the service remained excellent, just as it always has been. Unfortunately, no level of good service can make up for food this bad. I genuinely hope management takes this seriously, because this was a shocking decline from what used to be a reliable five-star experience.

As ever, the latest visit produced a mostly positive experience. The service was great. Sadly, the quality of the steak (a key dish on the restaurant’s menu and one on which it stakes its reputation) could have been better prepared. Basically, it was tough when it really shouldn’t have been. This detracted from an otherwise pleasant experience. Sadly, this made the typically expensive bill rather less welcome than it would have been. If the steak is going to always taste like this we’ll think twice about returning, I’m afraid.

My experience here was fantastic.. staff were warm, friendly and accommodating.. we celebrated my sons birthday and the quality of the food was incredible and the range of drinks left you wanting more.. i recommend the Mango daiquiri.. our party was for 9 people and they seated us downstairs.. the staff were informative about the upcoming busy period as we had children with us and didn’t rush us at all.. definitely recommend and will definitely return.. thank you for having us

We had a family meal here to celebrate our wedding a couple of weeks ago. From the moment of booking the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. One of our family members has difficulty hearing but we were sat in a nice quieter area downstairs so that she could feel included. The set menu was absolutely outstanding, delicious food and very good portion sizes! The staff also did the perfect level of checking on us enough to feel well looked after (but not where it’s too much) and were super friendly / chatty too. They even took a bottle of wine off the bill as a gift! We will definitely be returning and recommending to others. Thank you!!!

It’s been a while since our last visit, at the time it wasn’t great. Some years later and today we returned for lunch and we were to be pleasantly surprised. Fantastic food, excellent staff, our waiter Luke couldn’t do enough for us and even included a Birthday treat. All in all a fantastic experience with delicious food and good sized lunch time portions. Thank you.

What an experience. The food was amazing but the experience is always enhanced when you have amazing service. The waiter took his time, gave suggestions and entertained pleasant conversation. All when they are super busy. The fillet steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it. I will be definitely coming back and not leaving it only for a special occasion. This restaurant is well priced and service is always with a smile. Even when we left every staff member smiled and said bye. This place sets a bench mark on service a lot of big chains can learn from a place like this.
