I go to towns throughout the state for a couple of days at a time. I checked the Yelp reviews for this town and saw the highest rated restaurant was Taco Bell. No offense to Taco Bell but that isn’t a great sign.

I found Prime Diner by luck and was happily surprised. They have a diverse diner menu with a little bit of everything to pick from. I had fried banana peppers. I sent a picture to my wife back home and she was jealous. For my lunch I picked the brisket sandwich. It was rich and salty but very good. The portions seem to be a healthy amount.

You can tell this is a newer restaurant. Menus are printed on paper. The fountain machine doesn’t work and they serve cans. The bar selection seems small. But the food and service set this place apart from anything else I’ve had on this trip. Great job!

My husband ,son and myself are here for our first time right before the Christmas parade. I ordered loaded fries and let me tell you, they were delicious and their was plenty enough for my husband and I and some leftover. It was a little pricey and a little bit of a wait time.It felt so cozy and the employees were nice. Overall it was pretty good! I would definitely eat their again!

We started out with fried pickles..which was great! Customer service was great! The salad was epic! But when we got down to the entree which was a prime rib…it was over cooked. It had the flavor of a breakfast meat. The steaksauce was over powering. We ordered a 8 oz steak and when it got to us..it was more like a 2 oz steak. Definitely disappointed with the steak. In my opinion it was over priced. Our meal should of been a 30 dollar meal but end up costing us 53. We had to pay for the sides separately none was offered with the steak. Very disappointed. If we every go back it will be for the salad!

Have heard about the hype about this place and finally tried it out. Sad to say it’s not as good as I was lead to believe. Bland steak, poor service and all around poor experience. Entrees came out before appetizer and had to ask for our appetizer or probably wouldn’t have even gotten it. Had to remind server to bring out sides too since they were forgotten as well. In conclusion, there are many more restaurants more deserving of your hard earned money. While this place is local and I’d love to support a local business there needs to be some changes before I would want to try this establishment again. Do not recommend.

I ordered a cheeseburger and a side of slaw. If you like just vinegar for your dressing with no preparation for your cabbage you might like this. Not my cup of tea. I also had the prime rib sandwich. The rib was tender, the bread was stale for both sandwiches. I can say the baked beans was kind of tasty. Hoping they will take this constructively and improve.
My husband gives it five stars. He loves his beans and he loves his prime rib sandwich.
I can say the service was very friendly!
Try them out and fin out for yourself.

I’ve had the steak, Mac and cheese, and the pork tacos with apple slaw, the chef is so inventive, constantly coming up with new dishes to satisfy the most distinguished taste buds.. great service. Warm atmosphere. Would recommend it highly.

It was our first visit and last. The waitress was nice but the steaks were awful. No A1 either, it was some weird stuff she called it in house sauce, and we were over charged big time. Just very disappointed with the whole visit!

Calling all Foodies! There’s nothing quite like it and you’re going to be craving it later. Visited Paintsville today and stopped by Prime for dinner. What you’ll instantly love is the seasonal, daily specials for lunch and dinner. No stale, mile long menu here. Instead you’ll find items like pork fritters, beer cheese mac n’ cheese, shrimp po boys, green apple slaw, smoked pork tacos, and handcut steaks. Today they had appetizer offerings of fried pickle chips, and fried green tomatoes. Of course we had to try both. I think of myself as a kind of fried green tomato connoisseur and honestly these were the best I’ve ever had. They smoke their own meats and cheeses, and the burgers were fresh. They have dreamy in house made sauces. It’s like they took your favorite comfort dishes and food trucked them up, served alongside fine steaks. This place has heart and a creative chef. Everyone in our group left well fed, and in a slight food coma including vegetarians. If you have room after your nosh they have homemade cakes and treats on display. I may be already planning my next trip, I might dream about the special sauce.
