We traveled about an hour to eat at Prime 36 for our anniversary. This was our first experience eating there. We had a seafood tower for 2 as an appetizer which was fresh and delicious. We each had a risotto dish as our entree. One was listed on the specials and we believe it said it included beef as well as seafood but there was no beef noted in the dish. Both risotto entrees were flavorful and good portions. The most disappointing part of the experience was the drink. I ordered one glass of white sangria and it was very bitter and watered down. The service was excellent and the restaurant has nice ambiance.

Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had as it was our first time in this steak house we were amazed by it all, FOOD, SERVICE, and ATMOSPHERE ALL 5 stars ⭐️. The freshness of the ingredients in the “Zuppa De Pesce” was unforgettable. Highly recommended dish and cosmopolitan . Our first visit to 36 Prime was last night. We wanted to hit a steakhouse to celebrate some achievements by our kids and thought this place would meet the mark. It was a mixed bag. We had made reservations and were seated close to our reservation time, maybe 10 minutes late – not a huge deal. Then it took about another 15 minutes to get a a drink order in, knowing it too so long we put all of our order in at once. Unfortunately for me they had just run out of any non-alcoholic options after I order. The food came out relatively quick and all of it was cooked as expected for a high end steakhouse. Sides were of decent sizes and quality, and the steak was of decent quality. The service through remained slower than I would be used to at a place that ended with a final bill of $588 including tip. For that level of cost I expect more. I have been to many of the higher end steak houses in NJ (Palm, Roots, Ruth’s Chris, Ocean Prime) and all of them thrive on their service. This place just fell short there. The other issue was the sound in the dining area. SO LOUD. It was hard to hear people across our table without yelling because every table was yelling and the room had bad acoustics. The lights also kept going on and off through the night. Again for the cost, I feel you can find much better high end dining experiences, it was disappointing to say the least on what was to be a night of celebration for the family.

I don’t often do review for restaurants but I had a particularly interesting experience. My husband and I had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary last night. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated by a young man who was very polite. Shorty after our female server came over and took our order. Food and drinks came out quickly as we were the only ones there at the time.
Food: The food was just okay if I’m being honest. For the price I do feel like blue point in Newburgh at the waterfront is much better.
Atmosphere: great! 10/10. I even liked the Halloween decor they set up!
Service: Service was great until the check came. We received a gift card from my father that he just purchased on Saturday. We gave it to the server along with another from of payment for the balance. When she came back she explained its balance was 150 but the gift card was for 200 written and signed by the staff there. She then explained that they don’t fill out the gift cards until it showed her the certificate. Then her story changed and she said she would fix it. I don’t know if it was a true mistake but it definitely felt like she was misleading us and trying to take advantage. I really didn’t appreciate it. She did end up fixing it but the vibe felt totally off. When I asked her who’s signed it she said she didn’t know. I find it hard to believe she didn’t know what staff member issued the gift card. I won’t be returning!

In the most egregious fashion, I arrived on a quiet weeknight right before close. To make matters worse, I tainted the establishment with one of my more shameful outfits. Despite being obnoxious, and seemingly out of place, the staff was nothing short of hospitable, and treated me as if I arrived early and dressed appropriately. I had a proper start of really fresh and delicious raw oysters, a wonderful dirty martini, a lovely caesar salad and some complimentary bread with a tasty house dip. For the mains I had a behemoth of a ribeye steak cooked to a perfect shmedium, with a side of asparagus parm, and thick cut truffle fries engulfed in a criminal amount of rosemary. All paired with a crisp Chianti recommended to me by the handsome and respectful young gentleman waiter who was extremely knowledgeable on all things related to their menu. I finished the meal with a decadent leche dessert which practically melted in my mouth and subsequently made my heart melt also. From start to finish this was a proper dining experience, a treat, and a celebration of life itself. Thank you for maintaining high standards of hospitality. Will certainly return and recommend to others.

What a disappointing experience. We came here for Valentine’s Day and had high expectations. There was a select menu to choose from that offered an appetizer, main course and dessert. There were no prices on the menu. The appetizer came out fine, but then it went downhill. We waited an hour and a half for the next course. When the meals finally arrived it was a small bowl of pasta and a steak. Both were average. We ordered sodas and got a few refills while we waited. They charged us for each one. The bill came to over $270.. For that price they couldn’t even offer free soda refills? Never. again.

For $250, I was very disappointed. The food was meh. Our tomahawk was way undercooked and the asparagus was tasteless. The mashed potatoes were very good.
Also, why ask for the information, if you aren’t going to so much as say happy anniversary. I was hoping you were going to make our evening a little more special than ignoring us for the majority of our dinner.

Overall I think that Prime 36 is a 4/5! We feel that during their peak hours their food and service lacks. The last time we went, our steaks were over cooked and on the colder side and we couldn’t get ahold of our waiter to correct it so we did end up eating our plates. We recommend to people to try to come week nights or on the earlier side to avoid these situations!
When we go on week nights or before “dinner time” we love the service and food! The staff is very friendly and treats it more like a fine dining experience – we get our food while warm and cooked to perfection! My husband loves to get the lamb chops and I always enjoy the Filet Mignon. Their seasonally vegetables are always seasoned very well and their salads are delicious as well.

I’m not sure why there was a lot of mixed reviews about this restaurant. My husband and I still came here for our anniversary and we are happy we came here.
First off you will definitely need to make a reservation whether it is for lunch or dinner time.
2nd – Our waiter was very nice and he explained everything to us. We decided to get the calamari first to start off with it was very delicious.
3rd- My husband and I both got the ribeye steak along with the side of mac and cheese. All of it was very delicious. It was correctly corrected. It also comes with vegetables and potatoes.
Lastly the inside of the restaurant was beautiful and still decorated for the holiday times.
My husband and I will definitely come back. I highly recommend coming here and checking this restaurant out.
