If you want overpriced food and terrible service this is your place.

Menu on their website is severely outdated displaying lower prices than what they had.

The cashier overcharged me and conveniently forgot my receipt so I had to request one to get my money back. The manager even gave me attitude and didn’t even apologize for their screw up. Don’t waste your money here

Me and my girlfriend came here for the first time we should’ve already known not to go when we walked in and it was very dirty, we paid over $40 for two little breakfast meals and they only gave us one. We got all the way home and realized there was only one meal in the bag so we went back and got the biscuits and gravy that we didn’t get. I would understand if it was busy and they forgot our meal, but there was hardly anybody in there and they gave us an attitude when we came back to get our meal that they forgot. Are food tasted like crap the biscuits taste like they’ve been sitting there for days. They’re stale and hard. The gravy is runny and disgusting. Everything about this place is gross. Don’t go.

The food was good. Order at the counter and they’ll bring you the meal. Lots of unique offerings too. The patio is great for dogs. The restaurant has a battery collection receptacle. It is clear they care about the community!

I picked this spot as it was on my way to Tacoma and read some reviews that were positive.

It’s an order at the counter spot and has a sizable breakfast menu. My colleague ordered the omelette and I went with the Biscuits & Gravy Combo with Bacon. My colleague said she liked her omelette. As for my Biscuits & Gravy, it was a split decision for me. The sausage gravy was really good, but the biscuits were exceptionally firm and a bit chewy. The eggs were fine and hash browns were good. The drip coffee was good.

As for service, the staff was adequate, but not really into conversation. The restaurant had ample seating both inside and out.

Yummy breakfast, portion is right proportion with pricing. Staff is friendly, ambiance is not overwhelming like black diner. More laid back setting. Order first before you can seat. There’s breakfast, lunch, hot beverage, appetizer, no french fries but there’s burgers. Cute funny decors. Lots of sitting and parking. Service is quick about 10min wait.

Puts the “Poverty” in Poverty Bay.

I’ve come here about 8-10 times over the past year and each time I have never once been greeted with anything close to a friendly and welcoming attitude by anyone working the front counter area. Everyone seems sullen and depressed and as if the customer is a burden.
The espresso is sub-par but not due to the beans or the roast, rather the staff seems under trained: espresso is followed up with hot water from the rinsed shot glasses (why?), milk is over steamed and lacks texture. I haven’t bothered ordering coffee at all the last two times I’ve stopped by.
The food has overall been very good but it seems to take a long time, so expect a wait if you want anything from the kitchen.
Pastries are great and probably the only thing worth stopping by in my opinion.
I wanted to like this place because there’s a dearth of good espresso in Federal Way, but I cannot.

This is a low entry establishment, meaning you have to order your meal at the counter and they deliver it to you. Water is self serve and you have to bus your own table. I enjoyed my breakfast, it was simple and yummy. There isn’t much atmosphere, it’s a pretty basic place in a strip mall. I admire their business model and encourage people to eat there, which helps them with their community mission.

We were in the area to drop off our RV for repair and looking for brunch options in the immediate area. Located this place and so glad we did. It’s super cute and a great option if in the area. Parking lot was busy as it had a Saturday market. You order at the counter and find a seat (in door or outdoor options). They bring your order to you (less drinks). Food was delivered quickly and it was fantastic. Love house made salads and this one was one of the best. BLT are light/filling for the weather at this time of year and this one was spot on for what I was seeking. The Breakfast burrito is a great choice if looking for breakfast after the normal time as breakfast is served all day on Saturdays. Overall it’s a wonderful place and definitely worth giving it a shot if in the area

Our favorite after an early flight back to Seattle has re opened and is amazing! The staff so welcoming, helpful and kind! They look like they truly enjoy their jobs! Food is large portions and came out very quick!! So glad to be coming back!! The French toast was amazing and the breakfast sandwich was gone quickly by my husband.

Old review at the bottom of this update.

UPDATE: Poverty Bay must have hit the poverty line with our meals. 2 weeks ago the portion sizes and quality was amazing. This morning, we came back and it was like they were trying to limit our portion sizes. We ordered 4 of the same dish and it looks like you made one dish for every 2 orders. I’m not complaining about the QUALITY. The QUANTITY leaves a lot to be desired. If you look at the photos below, you can definitely see there is LESS food per dish vs. 2 weeks ago.

In addition, my wife said her cappuccino was mostly foam.

What happened Poverty Bay?

Previous review: Wonderful cafe tucked away from everything. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

We ordered a hot mocha and a cold mocha, and it didn’t disappoint. Just enough coffee and chocolate mixture.

For food, my daughter ordered the 1/2 BLT. The bacon was very flavorful and the sandwich was substantial if you don’t want a big meal.

I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast plate. The corned beef mix DID NOT come from a can. The chunks of potatoes, peppers, onions, and corned beef were excellent with the eggs and side of toast.
