I’ve been coming to Potomac Fish for many years and have known the owner for a long time. My family has supported this establishment for decades, so writing this is disappointing.
Today I ordered a fish dinner, which has always come with two pieces of fish. Instead, I was given only one. When I politely asked about it, the owner’s son responded in a dismissive and somewhat smart way, as though I didn’t know what I ordered.
The interaction became uncomfortable enough that the entire room went quiet while it was happening. That’s never a good sign in a neighborhood restaurant.
The issue wasn’t just the missing piece of fish — it was the attitude that came with a simple question. Longtime customers shouldn’t feel like they’re being talked down to.
This place has been a DC staple for years and the food has always been good. I hope the customer service side of things improves because businesses with that kind of history deserve better interactions with the community that supported them.

If you want fresh seafood, Potomac Fish House is the place! I purchased fried croacker, it was fresh and delicious! My order came with fried potatoes and coleslaw. Potatoes were perfectly fried and well seasoned!

They have a variety of fresh seadfood crabs lobsters fish oysters etc…..The fish is NOT frozen bagged(i personally dont like) …You get to pick fresh fish from freezer…They cut clean & fry whatever you pick on the spot…The Sandwich are about 12 bucks and platters are 17.00 served with 2 slices of bread coleslaw & potato wedges..

First Timer Review- Looked at the online menu called and placed an order (Fish & Shirmp) Combo. Parking took some time due to oncoming traffic and only street parking available. Restaurant was clean, food was ready quickly, fresh and hot.

It’s a good deal. They have fish and scallop platter with potato fries and coleslaw. I got the fried broccoli which was actually very good. It has a garlic in it. It needs more garlic lol but I was surprised how good it was

$14.90 all in for a large seafood platter with scallop, shrimp, fish, crab cake, clam, potatoes, and coleslaw. Solid deal and pretty tasty overall. Not greasy or too heavy on the breading. Can see why this place has lasted as long as it has.

Arrived here at 7:14pm on Monday night and they had just pulled down the metal gate to close. I asked the worker why does it say online that they close at 9pm. He keep saying “7:30, 7:30, 7:30” as if i couldn’t hear him. Very rude and it’s 7:14pm not 7:30pm so I’m still confused as to why you’ll are closed?!? FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. That alone was a major turn off for me and i will not be back.

Best fish place ever. They smile and greet u and take care of you and make you feel welcome unlike some other chains in this business!! Plus..the fish is AMAZING. 5 STARS i have no problem shopping here.

I was told of many Nice experiences of good food seafood (fish) at this place I’ve never been there. Circumstances pulled me that way and went and spent $70 on a few dinner. It was not good at all. The food was not seasoned and the potatoes taste like flour and dry not moist at all inside. I will never ever go there again I am so sorry and disappointed that I really wasted my money in this place wow I’ve got few good reviews of this place and I don’t know what type of taste buds do people have and was told the coleslaw was good again no seasoning whatsoever
