Amazing little place. I felt at home from the moment I stepped in till I left the place. The service was awesome, everyone was friendly. They were quick to order, quick to bring out food and the food was amazing. I had the seafood risotto for main meal and it was delicious and a huge portion as well. I will definitely be coming again if I visit Plymouth again.

Had not been for a while due to Dad being seriously unwell and unfortunately no longer with us (he absolutely LOVED Positano restaurant and would jump at the chance to go). Came for a meal on 19/11 to celebrate sister’s graduation. The food and service was exceptional as always. We love the homely feel of the restaurant that you get when you walk in- it’s very clear that everyone puts their heart and soul into it, especially as for a Tuesday evening it was exceptionally busy! SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS you will never match the service or quality elsewhere! Cannot recommend more, will enclose photos of our delicious meal 🙂

I can not overstate the fantastic experience we have just had at this fantastic restaurant. The service was brilliant, and Mario was fun character to interact with. The food was plentiful and satisfying, the duck in wine and honey was to die for. The desserts are delicious and moreish.
We went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was full. I was please to see that even if they could fit another table or two in, they chose not to. This created a great atmosphere that meant flowed with energy.
Perhaps they use a bit much cheese, but who doesn’t like cheese!
We have always wanted a Italian to eat at, and I am glad I found this one.
I do have to warn you though, you have to book in advance and, it’s best to try in the mornings. Took us two days and 4 telephone calls to actually get a booking. But we are so glad we did!

Having had the pleasure of visiting Italy, Positano is the only place that replicates, if not betters, the atmosphere and food of an Italian restaurant. For an ambience that can be casual, the food is heavenly, the prices are very fair and the portion sizes are fantastic! I recommend absolutely anything from Positano.

Had a dinner meal with friends here on a Saturday. The restaurant is usually fully booked and we had booked a week earlier.
Cons:
The moment we stepped foot in the restaurant, no one welcomed us, we told one of the waiters that we had a booking, he asked for the name, he said something in Italian to his colleagues and took us to our table. Not a single thing that he did felt welcoming. He gave us the menus and left.
It wasn’t clear who was serving us. Waiter #2 came to tell us about the chefs specials verbally, seemed very uninterested. Waitress #3 came to ask if we wanted drinks. Waitress #4 came to take our order but then waiter #1 came and finished her job. It all seemed very chaotic and 3/4 of the waiters seemed uninterested.
I asked for a starter to be served asap for my daughter as she’s hungry, waiter #1 said he’s also hungry in a passive aggressive way.
The food took 55 minutes exactly to arrive despite others being served way quicker. I asked for an update, I was ignored. I asked to speak to a manager, I was ignored. When the food finally arrived, waiter #1 said Here’s your update. Zero Apologies.
The food I asked to be put in a takeaway box was put in a tin wrap as in the picture. Never seen any other restaurant do that in 3 continents.
We noticed some flies and tiny fruit flies in the restaurant.
Pros:
The food quality was mixed, some dishes were amazing, others were way below average. My Calzone was amazing. We were offered complimentary bruschetta.
The manager coincidentally came to our table, she was made aware of the situation and she apologized and gave us a discount which we didn’t accept. Apart from her apology, the way she managed the situation was by bringing waiter #1 for us to confront him, which is terrible management in my honest opinion.
Finally, I really felt unwelcomed and discriminated against at times, perhaps in a much more subtle way that you’d struggle to instantly realise. I made that conclusion after reading a few reviews mentioning racism from staff. So in conclusion, AVOID this restaurant if you’re from any *other* ethnic group.

Was my first time visiting Positanos after being reccomended. Had a delicious Italian meal, duck in a red wine sauce and scallops in garlic. Staff were very lovely and the prices were reasonable!

Called to book a table for 7pm, and I was told that there was no availability at 7, but there was a table available from 6-8. I booked this table, and arrived at 6. We ordered our food, which was very nice, but at 7:15 we were told to leave as they needed our table for another group. We had not yet finished our drinks, and felt we were being told to neck them and go.
The staff had also been looking at us beforehand as though they were hoping we’d leave. Didn’t appreciate being told to leave before our reservation timeslot was over and before we’d finished our drinks.
Regulars will be treated well, but if you’re not a regular then you should go elsewhere.
EDIT: In their response, they say that they asked us to leave at 8pm. This isn’t true, as I mentioned in my original review. They asked us to leave because they “needed the table” at 7:15, a whole 45 minutes before our reservation ended. This claim that it was at the end of our reservation when it wasn’t has reaffirmed my opinion that I will not be returning.
