A bustling open kitchen concept that perfectly fits this seafood café and shop hybrid; with first come, first served seating and quick attentive service delivered with a genuinely engaging attitude.
Their daily special updates every morning (they wouldn’t know until the day of opening!), always highlighting the freshest catch of the day. If you’re lucky enough to secure a seat during the rush, it’s absolutely worth it and a great way to experience what Munich’s seafood scene has to offer!
(Come after 3PM on a weekday for the coziest time minus the rush!)

service across the street at Witte was non-existent (was told that someone would take my order, waited 10 mins and still nothing) so popped across to Poseidon. the tall male server was very prompt and friendly, and the Bouillabaisse was excellent (4eur cheaper than the fish soup at Witte). indoor table seats are v limited though (high tables) so settled for one of the plentiful outdoor tables.

Great find! If one looks at my review history, you can see that I can sometimes be critical, even when I give a 5 star review. In the case of Poseidon, there was not a single critique that I could find. In fact, this is a rare pearl in a sea full of wonderful oysters (work with me here on the analogy).
Pros:
– Decent selection of oysters, well shucked and the raspberry vinaigrette was delicious… not overpowering. FYI I don’t normally like raspberry.
– Ordered the white fish special with asparagus. I hate asparagus, yet I finished every bite. The white fish was pan fried to perfection.
– i watched the chefs cook all afternoon, and the seafood spaghetti caught my eye. I came back the next day to order it and it was as good as it looked. Arguably one of the best seafood pastas that Ive ever had.
– staff/service. Excellent! You can tell they all take pride in the dishes they prepare and serve
– menu. Simple with not a lot of variety, but that leaves them to do everything exceptionally well.
– creme brule made in house. Orgasmic. (Tmi?)
Cons:
– i found this restaurant late in my trip, so I only had two days to sample the menu
If you are in Munich.. find this place and eat here. If you are a solo traveler, get a seat at the bar and watch the chefs cook

This is a seafood market that also has a restraunt eating area. It’s great to see the fresh seafood and also be able to watch the preparation and enjoy eating what you have selected. We ordered the scallops, fish stew and muscle pasta. ALL were great. The place is run by a mother and son family duo. They are very nice and social. The place is clean and a good place to people watch. Had a good time. I say check it out.

Favourite spot at the market to pick up some seafood as well as for having lunch or early dinner. Great selection of fish, for the bigger oysters variety come on Wednesday or Friday – that’s the delivery day if I remember it correctly; the quality is amazing, my personal recommendation: carpaccio, seafood pasta, fish soup.

As soon as you enter, you’ll see the display of fresh fish and shellfish — all looking incredibly fresh. You can choose directly from the display or order from the menu.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming; although it’s a small restaurant, it’s filled with the wonderful aromas of freshly cooked seafood that instantly make you hungry.
I always make sure to visit and eat here every time I come to beautiful Munich.
In my opinion, this is one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever been to.

If you’re looking for see food while in Viktualienmarkt, this is the place to be. Poseidon offers few dishes but very well prepared. The Bouillabaisse is a must to have, cannot go wrong with it. The service is fast and friendly. They have tables mainly outside, so you need to wish for a pleasent sunny day. Definitely reccomended
