This was our first time eating here, and we were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our experience! We went on a quiet evening, just 1.5 hrs before closing, and the woman helping us was incredibly sweet and helpful (she even laughed at all of our dumb jokes )
Right after we were seated, we were quickly offered drinks and were given a complimentary plate of fried wonton strips with sweet & sour sauce for dipping.
For an appetizer, we ordered the pan-fried potstickers, and we ate all of them before we even thought to take a picture We were RAVENOUS. They looked a little darker in color with pork inside, and they were served with a simple dipping sauce. I’m picky with dumplings, and I will definitely be ordering them again!
After that, my husband and I ordered family-style and split the Beef Lo Mein and the Walnut Shrimp- pictured below
Simple, full of flavor, and more than enough for two of us. We even had enough leftovers for each of us to have leftovers today for a small lunch (which reheated very nicely).
If you’re looking for something to scratch that Chinese-American food itch, give China Star a shot.
It seems like they have a bunch of other menu items that we’d love to try, so we’ll definitely be back! Especially to bring some friends to try out their Japanese-style habachi!

We had an awesome experience at China Star. Our first time doing their hibachi dinner and it was 10/10. Great show and amazing food. We’ve been to Benihana many times but why surpassed every aspect- for much cheaper!

Hibachi is great here! Yes it is a little more than others but the staff is always friendly and they have a nice atmosphere. It is always a great time going here and they even give you free dessert on your birthday!

What a hidden gem. We went in for the “Tepinyaki” style where they cook in front of you. The food was amazing and the chef was top notch. The restaurant was spotless and the staff super friendly. We had 7 people so I booked our table the day of. Rather that go to Salt Lake or Layton, I’m going here from now on.

Food was good as always, these people always make good food. But i am concerned about the fish tank they have, its pretty small for holding about 15-20 medium fish. They do not have anywhere free to swim and it is cramped in there. Either get a bigger tank or give away some of the fish.

Good place to eat at for lunch or dinner. Egg drop soup is great, general tso chicken and sweet & sour chicken are both very good. For take out they sometimes separate the chicken from the fried rice which I like. The Family meals are the way to go, come with egg rolls, shrimp, and a few other things.

It was very quiet here at 9:30 on a Saturday night, only one other table was occupied. Nice decor, clean bathroom, good service. I ordered the walnut shrimp and it was absolutely amazing–I highly recommend it.

Ever since the HO HO Gourmet closed down, we have been on the hunt for another good Chinese restaurant. China Star is pretty decent! 🙂 We really like their service and their food is pretty good. I wish that they had Peking Spare Ribs, but I am sure that I will find another new favorite eventually. I can say that their Lo Mein noodles… those are pretty delicious!

Did the hibachi dinner. Worth it, that’s better then other companies and was just as entertaining. Also, the Pot Stickers are a must and the wonton soup too. Been a few times, will always come back.
