Amazing first time experience, definitely won’t be the last. The food was amazing, the service was out of this world and the ambiance was beautiful. We enjoyed the fried calamari, the best I’ve ever had. Hubby had the grilled octopus and I had the filet with the surf. We also got to enjoy the paella, which was absolutely delicious Desert consisted of creme brule and grilled pineapple with a shot of portuguese port. The entire evening was something that you have to do!

There aren’t enough words to express how much I love this place! We went there for the 2nd time on Valentine’s day and when we were seated they remembered us from before (September of last year). We drive an hour and 20 minutes to get there and it’s totally worth it. I haven’t been back to Portugal since 1998 and had forgotten how amazing Portuguese food is! From the service, to the food, to the decor and atmosphere, Portuguese House has become my favourite restaurant!

Wow ot was like stepping into actual Portugal. I had my honeymoon there about 9 years ago and going here for valentines day was like stepping into the past. Food os very good and generous portions as well. Highly reccomend. Not many kids options though so be prepared.

Had an amazing dinner at The Portuguese House! The appetizer selection was awesome—everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. I ordered the filet mignon for my main course, and it was cooked more rare—tender, juicy, and delicious.
Our server was excellent—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. There was a party going on in the other room, so it got a little loud at times, but it added to the lively atmosphere more than anything.
Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. We didn’t have a reservation for lunch and they made a table for us. The restaurant was very busy when we went on a Friday for lunch.
Atmosphere was excellent and fit with the fall season. It looks like it is a fun place to be in the summer as well.
The food was excellent and made fresh. The octopus was perfectly cooked. The sardine bruschetta was amazing and delicious.
There was plenty of parking in the surrounding area but I could see where it could fill up quickly.
A must try if you are driving along highway 11 and need to stop for a bite that isn’t a burger.

From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere, the beautiful decoration, and the incredible smell made us feel right at home.
The menu was so exciting, and every dish we tried tasted like true homemade comfort food. You can really feel the love and care in every bite!
The freshness, the quality, and the amazing flavours were beyond expectations.
Portages House isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience I’ll never forget.

Stopped here on a Saturday for lunch around noon. There were lots of places to sit, service was great and the food was excellent. We got the burrata salad, sausage starter, and seafood risotto. All were very comforting and we had leftovers for the next day.

Amazing place and I think this should actually be a Michelin star even a Bib.
The starters are amazing and shrimp was cooked like never before. The flavour and sauce were so good. The grilled calamari was grilled to perfection.
My wife got the seafood linguine and it was so amazing. The mussels, the shrimps and salmon were so good. Cooked just right I don’t know how they did it. The salmon wasn’t overcooked or undercooked.
The portugese chicken was a good one. Cooked nicely, soft and juicy, sauce was nice. However, I think they’re much better with their seafood. Would love to try their steak next time though. Would definitely come back again and bring more people.

Recently took my girlfriend here for her birthday. The tables were a bit tight together, but it was still a warm and cozy atmosphere that was beautifully decorated for Christmas!
The Grilled Calamari, Creme Brulee, and the Portugal’s Flaming Sausage were beautifully presented and tasted great! The Bitoqe didn’t really stand out personally, however the Portuguese Style Shrimp was my favourite! My only gripe is that they did not provide a birthday candle with the dessert my girlfriend ordered even though I called prior requesting for one and I was told it was noted down!

Travelling from North Bay to Owen Sound we decided to get off the highway and try this unique restaurant. That was our best decision, in some time It was terrific.
As soon as you arrive you notice its welcoming and charming decor. Our server, Raphael, could not have been more attentive or knowledgable and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the cod and the sea bass with perfect vegetable accompaniments as our mains and the Portuguese tart as the finishing touch. The chefs in the kitchen, father and another son, are excellent cooks. What a gem we found.
Next time we are in the area we will be sure to enjoy this family owned and operated delight again.
