Portside Diner: MA Retro Gem That’ll Whisk You Back

Luckily, I live in an area where several are still in service, including an old dining car in the town of Danvers, called the Portside Diner.

Visited Portside Diner first with my family and loved it so much that I brought my husband the next day! The food is genuinely delicious — we tried the Spanish omelette, Boston cream French toast, hot chocolate, and coffee. Everything was spot on. The coffee, in particular, was so fresh and had the perfect flavor.

There is plenty of parking. Outside and Inside seating area, with good enough booth and counter seating.

The diner itself looks just like something out of a movie — classic, cozy, and full of charm. For someone visiting from Dubai, it felt like stepping into a scene from an American film. It was a beautiful.

Cute place, delicious food, everybody seemed happy there and great service. Definitely recommend the pancakes and the eggs Benedict. Edit: I’ve been coming more often. Service is always great and I tried a burger today, it was alright. Standard cheeseburger I did find a hair in it, definitely not mine they don’t seem to wear hairnets I told myself it was mine and got over it lol. Fries were cooked pretty well, decent but no flavor, not even salted.

I went to the Portside Diner for the first time and was absolutely Blown Away. The staff were attentive, friendly, honest and efficient. I’m not sure what more I could ask for. Then the food came. The chef is amazing. The Western omelette and the Boston cream french toast were so yummy! But then the Butter Rum muffin came and I decided to write this review and order more muffins for my house. I don’t leave reviews for most places but it was so good and they were so happy that I was enjoying myself that I just really needed to share with everybody how fantastic of a place this is.
You won’t be disappointed!

The food that we had was great and the wait staff was great. Plus they have biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles too. My wife enjoyed her food and I enjoyed mine. We will definitely go back again.

This diner has been here since the 50’s. In the 70’s this was the place to go after a night out and the bars closed. My 1 egg breakfast was good, sausage a little overcooked and home fries under seasoned. Staff was friendly and attentive. Bar seating as well as booths. Very comfortable and able to carry on a conversation.

This is a super cute diner with a charming small town energy. It feels like an institution in Danvers and if I lived nearby, I would certainly become a regular. I ordered the Danvers Benedict which was delicious and would highly recommend. The prices were super affordable and the portions of food were perfect. The only downside to my experience was the coffee – it was not very flavorful and left a bad taste in my mouth. Other than that, I loved this place!

Stopped by this diner while on the North Shore. There was no wait so we immediately grabbed an open booth. It’s a small, busy eatery with a lot of locals stopping in for a quick bite to eat. The meat lovers omelet was good but the Portside french toast was absolutely delicious. The super fresh blueberries and strawberries along with the cream sauce made this typical french toast dish an extraordinary delightful treat! Would definitely recommend!
