I absolutely loved eating here and if I could give it more stars I would. It’s absolutely beautiful inside and the staff were so polite. We did book a table as during the day, it looked really busy but it didn’t seem as busy in the evening. The pasta dishes were absolutely delicious – I had the Tagliatelle Salmone and it was amazing! My friend also loved the music playlist so I had to add that to this review 😉

We went after seeing a recommendation on social media and were very disappointed.
On the bright side, the restaurant is situated in the centre of Newcastle, the details on the wall are beautiful and the waiters were polite.
On the other hand, the food wasn’t as good as one would expect and it took some time to arrive even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. One of the dishes we ordered had pesto, which tasted like store bought Barilla pesto. The quality of the ingredients in one of the pasta dishes was questionable because the person who ate it had diarrhoea afterwards.

Had an amazing meal with my wife & family yesterday.
It was a super friendly atmosphere and the quality of the food was very high. I would definitely be back next time I am in Newcastle.
I had the Scallops to start & the main I had Sirloin Steak with a salad and Italian chef’s side which was potatoes, olives and roasted peppers.
My wife also had a bruschetta which I have attached which was so fresh and tasty also.

This place has the best pasta in Newcastle. They also have very great service and ambience. It feels like you’re eating in St Peter’s Cathedral in Rome. I recommend 100%.

I’ve been to Portofino a few times and the food is always delicious. This time I had potato ravioli with spinach and ricotta filling in a creamy tomato sauce and it was an absolute delight. The staff are always attentive and very helpful here, and as someone with allergies I really appreciate how easy it is to find and navigate through the allergen menu (accessed by QR code from the menu).

Me and my boyfriend came for a belated Valentine’s meal, and while the restaurant was crowded the whole atmosphere was amazing, the staff were lovely and friendly and it was really simple service. The bathroom is so spacious and if you are needing a few seconds away from the noise it’s perfect. The food was amazing some of the best Italian food I’ve had, I ordered the carbonara and the pancetta was so beautiful. We also got a tiramisu to share and at these great prices you really can’t miss out on some treats. The service was amazingly quick too and I was literally taking the last bite of my starter when my main came. Would 100% recommend!

Disgraceful service on the evening of 4/12. Waitress was incredibly rude for the whole service – rushed us through the starters, tutted when I asked for a second drink, no checks during the meal at all, no offer of fresh drinks, snatched credit card out of my hand when trying to pay, rolled her eyes when we asked for a receipt. Complained to the “manager” who couldn’t care less. A beautiful setting spoiled by the crappy attitude of a waitress who has no business working with the public and an incompetent senior team.
The Gamberoni Romana from the special menu is best avoided – £12 for a minuscule portion that tasted nothing like the description.

Lovely building and the staff are super. I recently tried the pizzaioli sauce !!!! Oh my goodness !!! Amazing flavour and I used it to dip my pizza crusts in !!! Amazing and I will be having it every time I go ( which is every fortnight) . Thank you all 🙂 your restaurant is ace xx
