Oh boy—were we excited to find a Portillo’s outside of Chicago. Had no idea they’d expanded so much in Florida, and this St. Pete location absolutely delivered. The Chicago dog was everything we had been craving: perfect snap to the dog, all the right toppings, and done exactly the way it should be. The fries just might be some of the best fries around, period.

Service was fast and friendly, the menu has plenty of options for everyone, and the place itself was spotless. I did try the dipped roast beef—glad I gave it a shot—but it was meh at best, lacking the flavor punch I was expecting. No regrets trying it, but I’ll happily stick with the dogs on future visits.

And future visits there will be—we enjoyed it so much we went twice in one day. Dinner had a line out the door, and for good reason. Classic comfort food done right, with that unmistakable Portillo’s magic.

If you’re from Chicago or just Chicago-food curious, this is a must-stop in St. Pete.

As good as the other locations we’ve been too. The beef sandwich is just as delicious and this time tried the chicken sandwich. All though it was good it’s not better then their chili dogs so will order that next time. This location doesn’t have self serve for the drinks so no refills!

Being from Chicago land area and growing up eating here, food was still amazing but most definitely has changed in flavor. Mrs Portillos chocolate cake definitely not the same. Since when do they charge $1 for peppers . Everything else experience wise was Amazing.

For being “fast food” it’s top tier. Italian Beef was above average. Chicago Dog was as well. Prices were fair, possibly even a bit lower than expected. Very clean.

Let me start by saying Í absolutely LOVE this restaurant!! As a foodie I appreciate good quality consistent dining experience!! I never been to Chicago so maybe there is better Beef sandwiches but I’m so over the Philly cheesesteak battle of pinellas county and the prices of them 18-20.00 because Dave Portnoy reviews!!! This Beef and sausage combo with peppers dipped knocked me out like a Tyson uppercut!! So tender and delicious!! Hot crispy fries and cheese sauce was very good addition!! The Coke Zero was very refreshing as well!! My FIRST TIME having a slice of THE BEST CAKE Í EVER HAD!!’I have heard so much talk about this chocolate cake well the rumors are true!! Thank you Portillo perks for a free slice that was better than Grandmas fresh baked at home!! It was so spongy and just the right amount of frosting!!! If I was at home I would have licked the plastic container!!! I want to thank the manager and staff for the hospitality and great way to end my bad day!! I can’t wait for my next visit!!

Portillo’s in St. Petersburg has a great atmosphere. The restaurant was very clean and the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and everything moved quickly, which made for a really good overall experience.

The food this time around was just okay. I do feel like it can be a bit hit or miss because I have been here before and the food was absolutely amazing. I am a big fan of Chicago dogs and Italian beef sandwiches, and Portillo’s usually does a great job with both. Their chocolate cake shake is also one of my favorites.

Even though this visit was not quite as good as the last, I will definitely be back to give it another try.

Since I’m from IL and Portillo’s was my to go restaurant it’s always will be the best. One thing I miss is the grill vegetable sandwich and mango milkshake.
The beef, chopped salad and chocolate cake are Portillo’s best

I’ve been through this location’s drive through twice and both times have been great experiences! I messed up my order the first time and they helped me fix it, even though I tried to wave it off. The second time, I ordered six meals for my family- with most of them being custom orders- and my goodness they got EVERY SINGLE ONE correct! That’s incredibly rare. Everything was hot and it was delicious. I’m impressed with this locations and plan on frequenting it with my family!

Absolutely disgusting. I ordered the chicken tenders and they were rubbery, chewy and full of gristle. I ended up throwing them away. How long were these things sitting out getting dried up? Why Is Portillo’s using such crappy cuts of chicken that would’ve been better off As Dog or cat food?
What a waste of money
