Portillo’s is one of those places that truly lives up to its reputation. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served quickly even when the place is busy. Their famous Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches are absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly, organized, and the whole atmosphere feels lively and welcoming. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you want to enjoy authentic Chicago comfort food. ✨

Five stars for Esteban! If you want a masterclass in the Chicago-style Italian beef, this is the guy you want making your sandwich. Portillo’s beef is already famous for being slow-roasted for four hours and sliced incredibly thin, but Esteban’s attention to detail really makes it shine.
The beef he serves is always melt-in-your-mouth tender, and he hits that perfect balance of gravy—whether you like it ‘dipped’ (fully submerged for a rich, savory bomb) or with just ‘extra gravy’ on top. The Turano French bread stays soft on the inside while absorbing all that secretly-spiced jus, and he never skimps on the hot giardiniera or sweet peppers.
It’s rare to find someone who takes this much pride in every sandwich during a busy shift. If you see Esteban on the line, you know your meal is going to be 10/10!

Very good atmosphere, feels very spacious and comfortable. The service was great, and surprisingly quick, no complaints there and my regards to the employees. I had the Char-Broiled Cheeseburger, aside from it definitely being oily and a little slippery, it was satisfying and I was left content. Definitely recommend.

I’ve been here a couple times for carry out and both times service was great and the food (roast beef and fries, onion rings) is excellent. I really can’t explain how good the sandwich is.

We have been going to Portillo’s for years and no matter when we go the food quality is always exceptional. This time too the food was delicious.
Their service is very friendly and fast. Few things to be aware:
* They have a lot of indoor dining space.
* There is always a big rush here for drive thru, however inside there are hardly anyone there.
* Inside seating are benches made of wood so sitting on it for a long time is not comfortable.
* All food items are delicious but their hot dog and hamburger are the best. Burgers are very juice.
Overall a great place to eat.

Ordered fries through the drive thru. Almost $7 for two small fries seemed steep, but Portillos fries are typically worth it. I didn’t open the bag until about 5 minutes after leaving and they were not even lukewarm. I heard that they are under new management. That will be my last visit to Portillos.

The last time I was here, the fries were cold – like, still hard to chew. I was willing to let that go. But after the drive-through server read off my order as a hot dog, everything no onions, and the receipt says I had a hot dog with EVERYTHING, except onions, and I get a completely plain hot dog, I was beyond disappointed. Fry temperatures are subjective and hard to prove, but this was terribly disappointing… When you’re charging people $3.99 for a hot dog, you better be sure you get everything on it someone asks for. Get it together, Bloomingdale Portillos.

I ordered thru catering a large party size chopped salad with all the add-ins packaged separately and just the chopped lettuce in the bowl. It works out great because I wasn’t going to be using the salad until the next day and this way nothing gets soggy. It’s perfect. And the gentleman who packed it for me was helpful and did a really nice and careful job that the chocolate cake I ordered and all the separate add-ons were neatly stacked in the box, made sure nothing was missing. He explainrd that because of the way I ordered it, the salad would still be very fresh the next day. And it was. The out of town relatives from Texas wanted to know who made that salad because it was so delicious! I said PORTILLO’S!!! I also ordered a cheeseburger to go for myself. So good! And the young lady who took my order was very nice.
