Food was great! However, the vodka sauce on the pasta is almost always not enough. The noodles are usually dry and when mixing together it’s very minimal. Please add more sauce to pasta! Thank you.

The guy that took our order was very nice. However, getting to the 2nd window the lady was super rude. She shoved the food out the window at us and then just shut the window. The food was pretty the size of the jumbo dogs seems to have gotten smaller. The cake shake was good, and cheese fries were good. Usually I like to come here often when in town. However, I feel with the experience we had one time is good for this trip.

Celebrated our son’s birthday at Portillo’s in Crystal Lake. The manger came over and asked if he could give the birthday boy a gift. He took our son to select an item. Our son loves to share and asked if he can pick something to share with his whole family. The manger said of course and they came back with an entire chocolate cake! Thank Portillo’s for making it a birthday to remember!

I ordered the big beef Sandwich and not only did it lack meat, the bread size has shrunk about 2 in. It is now equivalent to what the sze of a regular sandwich use to be. The hedgefund that bought Portillo’s spent about a billion dollars. However, that doesn’t mean that they should be cutting back all the food sizes and raising the prices at the same time. I was very disappointed. I’ve had bigger beef sandwiches at several other places for the same price. Also, no one bothered to check the order to make sure the piece of cake I ordered was given with the order. It’s too bad the family didn’t take over the business because none of this would be happening.

In my experience, they try to rush the orders. My fries were quite salty and hard, but overall, not much flavor. The hot dog was okay, just like any other hot dog place. The chocolate cake is just a simple chocolate cake with not much flavor. Those who’ve tried homemade cakes from scratch or from a good bakery will understand, but if you’ve only tried supermarket ones, theirs will be “super good” for you.

We come in about 1 time a month now because it has become so terrible but with hopes that it is just a bad day. We came in today , I ordered a cheese fry and 2 big beef plain and dry, it was soaked with everything on it. Had to wait back in line for over 20 mins, redo it. It comes back out soaked with hardly any beef just soggy bread. By then I had no more time to wait as I had to be some where. For the price I pay this is u called for. I’m done . This once was one of my favorite spots

We love Portillos and usually eat here when we are in town which is one or two time a year. This time, was later in the evening and we were not happy with the sausage that we received. It was not very hot and the cheese was not melted as we expected. The vanilla shake was great. We will still come back but probably get something else to eat.

Stopped in for a dinner with the girlfriend and her daughter. To start off, this is by far our favorite location and the atmosphere is hands down amazing. Food is always good however there was a mixup with the combo meals. I had ordered a beef combo meal and they put it in as a combo sandwich with sausage and that was it. After receiving food I had noticed something was off and went back to get my order corrected. They told me they had this issue before but they should try to fix it instead of letting it continue to happen. I want to point out an employee who went above and beyond my expectations, Sophia the food caller. Absolutely amazing as she apologized about the mix up and just the way she handled it in general. The entire time we were there she did an amazing job at what her role was. You can tell she enjoys her job very much. With her interacting with customers makes me want to keep coming back. She is what all companies need. Hats off to her and the entire staff. She deserves to be recognized for her outstanding role. Thank you Sophia, we will be back.

My family and I love Portillo’s. We’ve lived in Palatine for 20 years, and our favorite place is Portillo’s Arlington Heights. We recently moved to the Crystal Lake area. Yesterday, we decided to place a $100 order at Portillo’s Crystal Lake, and it was the worst experience ever! They messed up our order, putting cheese sauce on both of our roast beef sandwiches, our fries were spilled in the bag, all the gravy was gone, and the double cheeseburger was dry. My husband called, and they offered “coupons” for the inconvenience, but they NEVER arrived. The worst experience our family has ever had!!!

I’m not a Chicago native. It’s good maybe even great but it’s nothing special. They are very friendly, it’s always clean, the food is always hot and fresh, and the atmosphere is also great. Honestly if it was a mom and pop it may have a better rating. I don’t want to rate the food a 3 star because it is really good but again it’s not really that special either so I can’t give it a 5 star.
