Cool Runner
We had tenderloin steaks done in medium and the texture was cooked perfectly, even for 240gms. The meat was fresh and of good quality. We had the chestnut tirumisu which taste sweet but not excessively. A very special dish for us.
The service was excellent and very friendly. We were welcomed and given a table even though we did not make any reservations.
The ambience is cozy and homely.
It is situated within short walking distance from Stephansplatz but within the crowded areas. I would recommend anyone who likes a good steak cooked to perfection.

Bad manners and terrible attitudes. Overrated tourist trap. Absolutely poor attitudes to the people that actually give them their wellbeing! No food is worth eating for bad attitudes! Poor rating!!!

We had an extremely unpleasant experience at Porterhouse Vienna, entirely due to the behavior of the staff at the entrance.
When we arrived, there was a group of two young women in front of us who politely asked if they could be seated outside. The man in charge at the door responded by telling them, in a sarcastic and dismissive tone, that they could “try the restaurant opposite instead if they would allow you to sit outside.” The tone and body language were condescending and unnecessary. The girls were polite, smiling, and clearly excited for dinner, there was absolutely no reason to speak to them that way.
After they left upset, the same staff member turned to us. We asked for a table for four and were immediately told “full,” again with an unpleasant expression and attitude. No explanation, no courtesy, just blunt dismissal.
We went to a nearby restaurant and received excellent service, which made the contrast even more striking. What was most disappointing was that when we later walked past Porterhouse again, the restaurant was clearly not full. Only a couple of tables were occupied, notably by well-dressed guests with luxury items, which left us with the uncomfortable impression that this establishment may not be welcoming to all guests equally.
Based on this experience, Porterhouse Vienna does not feel like a place that values basic hospitality or respectful treatment. There are many other restaurants in Vienna that offer far better service and a much warmer welcome. May skip this place if you are looking for a pleasant dinner experience.

Waited nearly 40minutes for our food, was charged for tap water, and there was a mandatory 10% tip at the end. Food wasn’t particularly amazing either. The ribs were too dry and the goulash a touch too salty for my liking. I paid in cash and was returned the wrong sum. The waiter initially didn’t believe me when I told him this, though he did eventually return me the correct amount. An unpleasant experience.

The interesting thing about this place and the bill payment is that the waiter unusually included a 10 percent tip on a large amount of money and also added an extra sauce that was clearly stated as complimentary with the meal on the menu. Also, without any notice, he did it and simply wrote the total price with the tip on the bill. The food was good.

We didn’t end up eating at Porterhouse Vienna because of how we were treated when we approached the restaurant. Despite the restaurant being clearly empty, the staff were rude, dismissive, and unwelcoming when we made a simple inquiry.
The interaction left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, and it genuinely felt like we were being treated poorly because we are English foreigners. There was no courtesy or basic hospitality, just abrupt and unfriendly behaviour.
First impressions matter, and unfortunately this one was bad enough that we chose to take our business elsewhere. Based on this experience alone, we would not return or recommend it.
