Our Birthday outing for mom’s birthday. Was exceptional. My steak was cooked to perfection, seasoned wonderfully. My husband ordered captain seafood platter. Seafood was cooked perfectly, great portions. Mom ordered hamburger steak dinner. She said it was delicious. Our server Jessica made sure our tea glasses stay filled. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We were promptly seated. The dining area was clean, mostly. Our waitress Faith provided good service. We had the combination platter blackened with the grouper and crab cake added. The whipped garlic and chive butter they serve with captains wafers before your meal was a tasty treat.
However, we could not bring ourselves to partake of the crab cake. It was like old bay flavored play dough.

We tried this place and had high hopes, but it really isn’t that good for the price. We got upcharged for credit card and they added on for getting the blackened option. So $6 added to our bill. Our sides were sad. The salad looked like a hospital salad , the greens were soupy not like pictures I seen online and definitely disappointing, the mashed potatoes tasted like box potatoes, and the cheese grits were aweful (so so thick and tasted strongly like artificial cheese). I think they were serving us margarine and calling it garlic butter as well. All my food was cold, except for the thick grits and the greens, I got blackened crab claws and oysters.. they were ok. Noone else at our table said theirs was cold though. The service was fine though, we had a very nice waitress. Ultimately I felt at the price point we will likely eat elsewhere so we can get better food that comes out fresh.

With the way I currently have to eat I had to change a few things and they were quick to accommodate my requests. And the food is amazing. Also the staff is very friendly.

What a cute little place! They take a lot of pride in keeping it very tidy and the service is very friendly. I had a large and delicious breakfast (standard fare). My wife enjoyed her seafood and sausage omelette. The coffee was hot and rich. If we lived closer, it would be our go to place for breakfast.

He got the open face pot roast sandwich and was disappointed that the gravy did not taste homemade. I asked about the mashed potatoes and unfortunately they are instant potatoes out of a box.
I got the combo with grilled shrimp & crab claws. For $30 I only got eight shrimp and they were a little old and a little bit overcooked, so not really enjoyable, Old Bay would have helped tremendously. Served with a tiny cup of melted “butter”, so I asked if this is real butter and she happily announced yes! we make our own garlic butter! But is it real butter? She doesn’t know and has to go ask and comes back and says it is margarine. IMO it should be a crime to call soybean oil “BUTTER”
The cheese grits had no taste and the slaw tasted funny, like I don’t know, slightly sweet like they were made with bread & butter pickles or something, I can’t decide what made it taste so weird. Collard greens were the best part of the meal, and I appreciate lemons cut in large wedges, makes it easier to squeeze on my seafood.

Porter Island Seafood is a fantastic choice for anyone craving quality seafood. I recently dined there with a larger group and was really pleased with the experience. One of the standout items for me was the hush puppies. They’re on the sweeter side, which I personally love – they were just perfect!

One thing to keep in mind is that if you’re coming in with a group, the food might take a little longer to arrive, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. Each dish came out piping hot, clearly fresh, and delicious, which really shows the care they put into their cooking. The wait time was more than manageable, and I’d rather have a slight delay for high-quality food any day.

The restaurant itself is comfortable and clean, with bathrooms that are well-maintained, which is always a plus. There’s a changing table in the women’s restroom, making it convenient for families with young children.

Overall, Porter Island Seafood offers tasty dishes in a relaxed setting, and their attention to detail in everything from the menu to cleanliness makes it worth a visit.

It’s a great seafood option! I really enjoyed the hush puppies, they are the sweeter kind and I love that! Food takes a little longer to come out for a larger group but the food was great and hot when it came out!

Bathrooms are clean and available. There is a changing table in the women’s restroom.

I had the Kids Shrimp, so good! My husband got the special, which was Flounder & Shrimp with 2 sides. I’m expecting some small filets to come out. I was shocked to see a humongous fish on that plate, but very tasty!! Service was excellent!!
