My wife and I enjoyed our experience at Porta Nera. Starting with their bread, the bread and oil combination was a good start. For our meals, I got the Chicken Parmigiana and it was quite good. Everything from the pasta, to the sauce to the chicken and cheese was good. The portion size was massive as well! A portion size that I should have taken some home but it was too good and I finished it all! My wife got the spaghetti and meat balls and she like it as well.
The only down side was the service. Like many restaurants, they are currently experiencing staffing shortage. Our food came out quickly after we ordered but it was awhile to get there. I won’t hold this against them because everyone who was there was hustling and doing all they could do. The owners were also there seating and bussing tables. Doing whatever they needed to help out and I can respect that a lot!
Overall, we like the restaurant. We enjoyed our food and experience and would go back. I’d definitely recommend giving this new restaurant a shot of you like Italian!

I was one of a group of 11 that went on a Saturday evening (we had reservations for 6:30).
There appeared to be 2 waitresses and 1 bartender, so the service was SUPER slow – took 25 minutes to get our first drinks.
For whatever reason, they weren’t offering the table side Alfredo but I ordered it anyway. I was shocked when a small bowl of mediocre pasta arrived, without any side salad OR bread! All of us who got the $23 serving of pasta were very disappointed. We could think of no other Italian restaurant that doesn’t serve as much as a slice of bread with a pasta bowl!
Long story short, save your money and just go to Olive Garden- you’ll get the same quality food for half the price.
UPDATE: after receiving the owners response to my review, I dropped the stars down to ONE for his poor taste. I guess the public is supposed to blindly support workers and their families by lying through reviews to keep businesses running.
Your response to my review will speak for itself to those reading!

Had an absolutely wonderful experience here! I planned a surprise party for my fiance and they accommodated our large group perfectly! Aurora was our waitress, and she did an outstanding job! The cook who came out to prepare their famous fettuccine alfredo even sang a special birthday song to my fiance. It was such a beautiful, unique experience!! I highly recommend this restaurant and strongly suggest asking for Aurora upon arriving!

I do not enjoy writing negative reviews on places but I felt it was necessary due to the prices and quality of the food just to warn families to be prepared to pay a lot of money here for food that could be made at home in a better way. The first thing I noticed was the charging of 7 dollars for the bread and butter that’s normally complimentary. I understand the prices of everything has gotten super high and it’s difficult times for establishments so I didn’t think too much about it until I actually tasted the food. The vodka sauce on my pasta was dry crusty looking like it had been sitting for a little but it was piping hot in the middle. The chicken I added into the pasta was burnt to a crisp and so so dry 🙁 all I could taste was gristle. I appreciated the fact that the portions were not huge like most places but it was also was pretty small for what they were charging. Another family members meal also had a slimy film appearance on the sauce like it had been sitting out for a while, the lemon sauce was tasteless and again… the chicken was really dry sadly. Our waitress was very attentive and super sweet and honestly she and the wine were the only good thing. The restaurant Vincenzos that used to be here was such a great place and I wish luck to this new establishment but sadly won’t be returning.

We just experienced one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to. Everything was superb from the bread to appetizers to entrees to desserts. There were seven people in our party, and they could not stop talking about how delicious their selection was compared to the next person’s. Our waiter, Tee, couldn’t have been more accommodating. He was there to help out the entire evening. I would highly recommend going if you want a delicious meal and great experience.

We thought we’d give it a try. We used to love Vincenzo’s (unrelated to the new place) and thought that the quality of their food and service was well aligned with their price point. For Porta Nera, the food was OK, the service was OK. Our server tended to disappear for a while and I needed someone else to fill my water. He was very friendly, though. Atmosphere is the same as the previous occupant, which is nice (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it). Frankly, we just didn’t think it was worth the money being charged compared to some local competitors that are either less expensive or have better food for the same price. Sadly, we probably won’t be back.

Went on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. Loved my bolognese with sausage, so much so that I ate the leftovers for breakfast the next day! The mussels and their broth were delicious as well. The bread and garlic butter were yummy. Just wish they didn’t charge for bread.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Both food and ambiance, beautiful! Gorgeous presentation.
We brought our two sons, 14 and 6. We will be back very soon!
Our 6 year old is very picky. Chef’s spaghetti sauce is his absolute favorite.
Porta Nera is closed on Sunday’s, which happened to be ours son’s birthday. I reached out and was able to purchase the sauce to have for him on Sunday!

We went early on a Saturday night with another couple and the place was quiet and we were sat right away. Unfortunately they were short-handed but as there were a few people dining at that time it did not impact our service. The coffee machine and the soda machine were broken but they did send somebody to a local store to get bottles of soda. I had the Penne alla vodka with sausage and it was pretty good. The highlight was the sausage which had great flavor and texture and there was plenty of it in the dish. One of us got the mushroom risotto which was also good. Unfortunately the other two both got the chicken parmesan which was very unremarkable. The chicken was tender but bland and the pasta was very light on sauce. While not a bad experience it was certainly not worth the price.

Absolutely delicious! We came her for my wife’s bday and all 4 of us ordered the tableside alfredo. The kids enjoyed watching the food be prepared. It was so filling we had to get dessert to go. Highly recommend coming here for some good food, fast, friendly service and great ambiance. We will definitely be back.
