I had breakfast here for the first time, and I’m definitely making this part of my routine. I really enjoyed the pork tenderloin biscuit. The biscuit was fluffy and crumbly (in a good way) but didn’t leave my mouth dry. At some restaurants I feel the need to add jelly or honey or at least butter, but not here. The cheese grits were also well seasoned. The put a slice of cheese under the grits and shredded cheese on top. *pro gamer move* I can’t wait to try more of their delicious food.
I was eating a late breakfast (after 9:00 a.m.) and they were offering the breakfast and lunch menu. I’m not sure if that’s always the case, but great to have the options.

I did not expect the pop culture paraphernalia anime, video games, Star Trek and even Atlanta’s Dragon con. The service A+ I asked what their specialty was and was very satisfied with their suggestion. The food A+ I had the bacon mushroom burger with their original sauce with the loaded fries. The place has that feel like they’ve been there since the 60s which I’m a big fan. I’m always up for ma and pa joints that have survived throughout the decades. Makes me feel at home. Can’t wait to go through the rest of the menu. Definitely recommending this place to everyone I know. Thank you guys and I’ll see you at Dragon con next year!

Stopped in for breakfast. 3 meat omelet and grits were absolutely delicious. Decor and atmosphere has a fun vibe. Staff was super friendly. Amazing little family owned business that I can’t wait to visit again! I hear the burger is delicious too!
The only negative I would give is that the bathroom needs a good serious cleaning.

I love a good Philly Cheese steak sandwich. Pop’s did not disappoint. It was one of the best I’ve tasted in a long time. The fries were fresh, hot, crispy outside and tender inside. Service was with a smile and the staff made sure we knew they appreciated our business
Great experience!

THE BEST HOTDOG IN BIRMINGHAM, PERIOD. My wife and I first ran across them a few years back at Pepper Place, when we had their slaw dogs. They were INCREDIBLE (more detail to come). But we couldn’t remember their name, so over the last few years, after they stopped selling at Pepper Place, we kept trying different places in town in a vain attempt to find them – but it was never the same. Today we FINALLY found them: Pop’s! And OMG, their slaw dogs are every bit as INCREDIBLE as we remembered. With a hotdog, it’s all about THE DOG. So many people forget this! The DOG has to be flavorful, with just the right about of toothiness to the skin and char. If the dog isn’t right, it doesn’t matter what else they do with it and all the crap they pile on it! Well, the Pop’s dogs are PHENOMENAL – BIG flavor, and perfectly cooked! But then their SLAW – the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and their cabbage is so fresh (good crunch!). And on top of that, their sauce adds just that perfect extra punch of flavor. So yeah, truly a transcendent experience, if you’re a hot dog fan. Oh! Their onion rings were perfect as well – not too heavy, perfect balance of crust to onion, and perfect crunch. And THE STAFF ARE SO FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING!!! It’s always a good sign when you come in, sit down, and people flowing in and out of the restaurant are all being greeted by name and asked about family members etc. Truly a neighborhood gem! THANK YOU POPS!!!

Overall statements
Good lunch place, but I don’t like the blackface picture in the restaurant (right of the entrance in the corner). Although, it could be an actor playing a part in the script. It is never a positive look to have a picture that is portrayed as blackface.
It immediately made me think this could be a racist establishment, which should never be the case if it (Picture) wasn’t there. I have revisited the restaurant, but that picture keeps it from being the best overall.

I was visiting Birmingham for work and saw this place has been around for forever so I decided to give it a try. Service was awesome the lady at the counter was very friendly even though she was slammed it was a lunch rush. Food was pretty good, only complaint was the BLT said it has a hunk of bacon, well I guess I just expected more with verbiage like that on the menu. I would and will visit them again prices are fair and the food was good.

This is a great little diner. Today I stopped in to pick up that Slammin’ Bacon cheeseburger for a late lunch around 2. There were a few others inside and a couple also waiting for takeout. The person who took my order and ran the counter was very friendly and on top of things. My food came out in a few minutes and was brought piping hot and with a smile. The burger was excellent and the fries were very good too. Under $12 plus tip. Go to Pop’s for the best diner food.

Great service an unassuming atmosphere. Probably the best hot dogs I’ve had in AL. The slaw dog was nice an creamy with a zingy sauce and the chili was rich and hardy. All around the food was inexpensive and I rolled out of there super full. Absolutely would go again
