Unfortunately, I had to change my review from 5 stars to 3. I’ve always enjoyed Pop’s Italian Beef and Sausage and had consistently great experiences in the past, which makes this recent visit all the more disappointing. The customer service was far below the usual standard I’ve come to expect.
When I asked a couple of simple questions about the menu, I was met with short, dismissive responses and an unwelcoming attitude—as if I was bothering them just by asking. It felt like customer interaction was more of a burden than part of the job, which really took away from the overall experience.
I truly hope this was just an off day for the staff, because I’ve always appreciated this spot for both the food and the friendly service. I’d love to return to the five-star experiences I used to have here.

After reading about the best places for Italian beef in Chicagoland, I decided to try this place. They have a private parking lot that is shared with other establishments. Inside it wasn’t too busy and they had 60’s music playing. Plenty of seating. You place your order and pay, then you get a ticket number. They call your ticket number and you pick up your food at the very end of the restaurant. You can’t miss it.
I ordered the super beef combo meal. Super beef is 9 inches long. I was amazed after opening it up of how much meat they gave me. Compared to Portillos and Buona, they give you way more. In terms of quantity, they beat them. The sweet bell peppers are huge and tasty. The bread was dipped and flavorful. The meat, while bountiful, could be more moist. In some parts it was kind of dry. The French fries were similar to the same kind that McDonald’s uses, except they tasted better. Just enough salt. Overall, I would give a 4 out of 5. It was a good lunch. Staff was very friendly and efficient.

I had the cheeseburger day cheeseburger for 2.99 and it was great. The french fries were delicious crisp salted well. NOT greasy. One if the best malted shakes I’ve had in a long time. The girl at the drive thru was so sweet and personable. I will be back

The food is good but what I love the most is I was in the driveway waiting for my food and my car died on me so it was very embarrassing and I had cars behind me and I couldn’t move because my car wouldn’t turn on three of the staff members came out to help push me into the street!! They are literally awesome. Awesome awesome thank you so much guys.

I ordered through uber eats a got a quart of soup and a gyro plate with fries, I had a few special requests which I noted I would pay the extra charges for my total went from $38 and some change to $49 and some change only problem is that I never got any of my special requests so I’m out of $9 because uber eats wouldn’t give me a credit. Usually I don’t complain but with the cost of everything going up every penny counts, not to mention the soup was super cold like it just came out the freezer overall just very disappointed.

Been living in the area for 5 years and when I say this is the best local restaurant in Lyons, I am not lying. I have no complaints over the years. Their food is ALWAYS made fresh even if you go at 9 at night. The food is affordable and never tastes any different, very consistent in flavors as well as service. Employees are always nice and patient. Highly recommend Pops & I will even recommend one of my favorites here TRY THE DOUBLE CORNED BEEF ON RYE W/ EVERYTHING toasted!! Also inside is family friendly and they even have slots & drinks in the back for the adults

Food is ok. Very friendly staff. On certain days of the week there is deals offered. A very laid back clean restaurant. That also, has video games as well.

Stopped in to order two double cheeseburgers (they have a deal if you buy two) and ended up getting breaded mushrooms and an oreo shake as well. Mushrooms were amazing, burgers were filling but maybe a little less seasoning than I’d have liked. The shake was good, but not as good as others in the area – it did the trick to satisfying my craving though! Thanks for lunch!

Stopped here today for lunch with my dad. The girl that took our order was pleasant but hard to understand and hear. We both ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The meat was thin, and I asked for mayo on it, and I thought they forgot but it was just so sparse. The fries were delicious! Thin and hot! Atmosphere was nice. $26 for lunch so I may just stick to making a sandwich.
