⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Fantastic Diner Experience

Pop’s Café (soon to be June’s Café) is a gem—and it’s within easy walking distance of the Superior Courthouse, which makes it a perfect lunch stop if you’re in the area.

The food is fresh, hot, and served in generous portions. I dined with a friend, and he said his BLT was excellent—fresh, crunchy lettuce and a surprisingly large, satisfying sandwich.

Service was outstanding. No fewer than three staff members checked on us throughout the meal, and our server Emily came by four separate times to make sure everything was perfect. That level of care is rare anywhere, let alone in a cozy diner.

The owners are in the process of transitioning the name back to June’s Café—June and her husband were the original owners, and they’ve returned this year to bring the place back to its roots. You can feel that sense of pride and warmth in everything they do.

One of the best diner experiences I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended.

Noticeable difference in change of ownership. They haven’t update the name on the outside.

Food: good food and taste but portions were not proportionate. I ordered Pop’s Country Breakfast. It should have another egg (not just 1), way less potatoes, and way more gravy. I think the menu stated “…smothered with gravy.”

Service: coffee wasn’t as hot as it should. It was just warm. A nearby customer asked about parking and was alerted about possible towing. That was good.

Atmosphere: it was nice but a little warm inside.

Overall good but need to reassess their portions. I cheering for them and will check back in a few months.

Ordered Spanish omelette and hash browns breakfast.

Hash browns were ok but the Omlette was one of the worst I have ever been served in my life. Basically ingredients not even fully cooked thrown under the egg with some cheese. I’ve had better in a school cafeteria especially for the price they were charging.

Update as it’s now the same day in the evening.
Pretty sure both my girlfriend and I both have food poisoning and we definitely didn’t eat anything else today that we think caused this.

First time at June’s and not the last! We sat outside and the weather was as lovely as the service. Our server, Emily, knocked it out of the park with her prompt and kind manner. The new owners made sure we had everything we needed once the food was on the table—felt truly cared for. I got the Gourmet Delight Omelette and went to town on their fried zucchini. Will have to be back soon for some french toast I was eyeing across the table. Thank you for a memorable (and affordable!) morning.

POP’S CAFE was amazing! We just moved to Santa Ana recently and I saw someone on Reddit recommend this as their favorite American breakfast place. Now, I can say that this is my new favorite breakfast place! The vibes are immaculate and the food is great. Prices can’t be beat as well! I will definitely be coming back.

We sat indoor and the diner vibe is perfect. Next time, I want to bring my dog and sit outside. It gets busy but the wait is not bad at all.

We’ve had a great experience.

I loved everything we got!

Love this place! Sign on the wall says they’ve been around since 1946 and I believe it. Counter seating, old diner tables and chairs. Love the atmosphere, good food, friendly staff.

I enjoyed my #3 Specialty Sandwich, which was turkey breast, avocado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and mayo on squaw bread, with a side of delicious potato salad. Onion rings were good too.

The food is great. Location is on the smaller side but they really made it work with what they have to work with. Service is great, food is great. I loved that I wasn’t there waiting a long time for food to come out.

First and last time here. Average Denver omelette, packaged English muffins were as expected and the “Irish potatoes,” lacked serious seasoning/flavor. Service is run by college/dropouts with poor customer service skills. That’s not uncommon today and will never change, as the younger, self-entitled generation will never understand what earning a tip requires. Now it’s drop off your plate, never come back to check on the order, not offer to refill your cup and “order expect,” a 20% tip. This experience will certainly keep me from eating at restaurants with table staff or only go to high end restaurants where incredible service is the standard. Anyways, at 10ish, this spot was 1/2 or 1/3 empty telling me people rather eat at Norms.

Great little breakfast and lunch place. It opens up early in the morning and closes at 1:30 in the afternoon. Very classical looking to1950s diner. Had a great pastrami and BLT sandwiches for lunch once. But the first time we went in for breakfast. I had the corned beef hash and my wife had sausage biscuit and gravy with eggs on the side. Both were awesome but the best thing we had was the deep fried french toast with what Jose recommended chocolate and strawberries on top that was the best.

We’ve been twice and it has consistently been good, so I would recommend if you’re looking for a mom and pop style cafe near DTSA.

In-depth review:
Food: 3/5 – hamburger and fries at $12.50 is a fair price and taste as expected, and the country fried steak and eggs at around $15 is also decent. The Pop’s Country Breakfast (not pictured) was ok but too much gravy that was just ok tasting. Would not recommend the Grilled Chicken Melt (not pictured), it was horrible- very bland and basic, with cheese that was only barely melted and looked like Kraft singles. Pancakes are nice and fluffy and definitely worth trying.

Service: 3/5 – consistent good service

Price/Value: Par other similar diners, but cheaper than many others, so while expensive it’s just about better than the competition

Parking: Limited street parking only takes change or the app, I think free on Sundays? It’s not in too busy of a side street.
