We eat here daily for our noon meal. The new owners are great people, the staff is polite. The new owners are tweaking the recipes to make the food their own. The entire menu is well prepared and tasty. Drop in and enjoy the excellent food and cold air conditioning.

Great surprise in the middle of nowhere. It didn’t look like much, but . . . the food was phenomenal. Tasted and seemed like we were at home. Really great steak. The waitress was a HS Senior working toward college – fast, friendly, very professional. Definitely worth leaving the freeway! Check it out.

Fabulous food! Fabulous server! So worth the affordable cost! Stupendous coffee! This is a must stop place when you are anywhere near Colfax! Cozy, friendly and coffee! What more can you ask for? Nothing, but an empty stomach before you go. Trust me go hungry.

We visited 6 years ago and it was delicious. We were trying to find a restaurant to take our granddaughter to on the way back from Des Moines. We chose Poppy’s again. Not disappointed. Her steak was delicious and our Pizza was out of this world.

Good burgers, good pizza. Fast service. Great beer prices. Best “bar” in town after the restuarant closes. Usually is open past the actual bar, staff are always friendly and want to please.

Not only did it take forever to get our food but my son had to wait for his corn dog that I asked be brought out first and it wasn’t even fully cooked. My sandwich was supposed to be grilled but isn’t was so greasy I had to use napkins to clean it off and my potato was so covered in butter it ran off my plate. Would not recommend this restaurant!!!

Homestyle food in a small town with great portion sizes and prices. If you’re northeast of Des Moines and tired of eating at the same four or five restaurants you should stop by Poppy’s. Service is quick, dessert is a must, and if you live in the bigger cities you can out of the hustle for a while! What more could you want?! Enjoy!

Used to love it there. Then the owners were selling it on contract. Needless to say the food really went downhill. Now the original owners have taken back over. Great food, great people and great prices!

Refusing to eat at McDonalds we searched google maps for another option. Poppy’s was a very clean, friendly place. The food was delicious! My steak, green beans and baked potato were perfectly made. They also have great cheeseballs. We highly recommend the 4 min drive off of the interstate to eat at Poppy’s.

Awesome little small town restaurant! We were just passing through & decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Possibly the best steak I’ve ever had!
