As fast food places go, I was surprised how nice this place is. It’s clean, comfortable with some places where you can plug in to charge your devices. My chicken burger was OK. The fried chicken was fine but I think they’re going a bit heavy on the sauce. Some lettuce, onion and tomato slices would have been great.

The customer service at this Popeyes is good, but the fried chicken is subpar. It’s over cooked, and seems to be cooked in old cooking oil. The chicken does not have a golden crust, and looks nothing like Popeyes ads. The cooks should be properly trained on the Popeyes cooking technique. Also, Popeyes corporate should hold their franchise partners accountable to quality standards.

I really don’t eat food like this very often, but when I do, I have to give credit where credit is due. I had heard a lot about Popeye’s Louisiana chicken, and especially about the Popeye’s Louisiana chicken sandwich spicy.
So, lo and behold, driving home today I saw a Popeye’s Louisiana chicken on my way home and decided to give it a try.
I got the special, which is a chicken sandwich spicy, Cajun fries, and diet Coke, all for around $11 plus tax, and sat down in the empty place. To be honest the place looked interesting inside, and it was colorful and very clean it reminded me of fast food places in the 70s when they were a little bit more in fashion.
The staff was 100% Latino, (Mi Gente), and while I waited for my order I watched them knock out about 50 drive-thru orders with the precision and technique of seal team 6. This Crew does not mess around and they probably sell $50,000 worth of chicken a day.
Also I have to say, the place was totally spotless, and the staff was super friendly with me.
So like I said, I really don’t do fast food but once or twice a year, but the next time I get it fast food craving I’ll be going here to the Popeyes on San Pablo avenue in El cerrito. They have the chicken sandwich game on lock.

Last two times I came here, the chicken meat was really soft and mushy, like it was old. The outside did not have the classic Popeyes crunch. Once again , it gave me mild food poisoning. Cramps & diarrhea. I love Popeyes, but I am never going to this location again.
I called to tell them about the food poisoning and they hung up on me. That reply is just lip service.

Irresistibly delicious! A guilty pleasure that should be enjoyed on special occasions especially their Chicken Sandwich that I finally tried. Definitely worth the wait and it is NOTHING like McDonald’s chicken sandwich Lol or KFC. Something so simple yet so tender, juicy, crispy crunchy chicken that complements the soft buns between, along with their sauce (not to saucy or too light, just right!) And their pickles, makes your mouth salivate for more! Which hopefully they can keep it on their menu permanent so others have the chance to try it!
