We’ve had this place on our radar for some time, so when I asked my wife where she wanted to go for her pre-Mother’s Day dinner, she chose Poor Boy’s Riverside Inn. And our first visit didn’t disappoint. Now you know why I married her lol! Even our daughter got to join us for this fabulous meal. When we first walked in, it gave us the impression of the camps we grew up with on the rivers/swamps of South Louisiana. It felt like we were visiting cousins. We had reservations for 7pm and were seated right away. We highly recommend making reservations, especially on the weekends. Our server Destinee, promptly took our drink and appetizer order. There was so much to choose from, but we settled on the grilled Alligator Tidbits. They were seasoned to perfection and so tender. With every bite we tried to guess what flavors were coming out. We throughly enjoyed this dish! For our entree’s my wife had the Crab Dinner. If you’re a crab lover, as she is, you can’t go wrong with this dish. There were so many crab variations with this dish. My wife absolutely loved it. Our daughter ordered the Grilled Redfish, her favorite seafood dish. She commented on how well seasoned it was. She gave it her two thumbs up rating. Going in I knew I wanted flounder, but was blown away by all the different choices on the menu. I went with the Flounder Extravaganza. There were 2 filets of flounder stuffed with crab meat stuffing then topped with crawfish, lump crab meat and mushrooms sautéed in a sweet cream butter sauce. Wow – what a melting pot of flavors! Even the grilled mix vegetables were seasoned and cooked to perfection. We truly enjoyed our visit to the Riverside Inn. I guess I know where we going for Father’s Day LOL!

Institution in Lafayette started 3 generations ago on the banks of the Vermillion River. They do a wonderful job with Crab and the sautéed lump crab here is legendary. They also have a great stuffed flounder. I always order the crabmeat Boulettes and my brother and mother loved the fried catfish. Good house Italian salad dressing.

As always, superior food and service in very relaxing surroundings. I actually watched a racoon come out of the wooded copse, stroll up the front walk, peruse the specials and then saunter back off from whence he came Hard to belive this is so close to main thoroughfares and businesses.

The beautiful property had me excited, but dinner left me disappointed. $100 for 2 with a dirty fork on our table, multiple order mistakes, having to ask for bread and then for butter, and receiving one steak well done and the other medium rare, when both were supposed to be medium well… Not impressed. Plus, when my steak was brought back to the grill and then returned, it was well beyond well done. Heard lots of great things about this place and enjoyed Little River Inn when it was open, so I was hoping for more. The bread and gator tidbits were good when we finally received them, but definitely not worth going back for. I love locally owned businesses and wish that I had more positive things to say about this one, but it’s just my experience.

We recently celebrated our parents 68th Anniversary here and Everything was Awesome. They accommodated our large family and the Hospitality was outstanding! We ate various item across the menu, the food was delicious, and we are very pleased that we chose Poor Boy’s Riverside Inn for this event. Mr Richard and Ms Lori are the best host you will find, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We thank yall for a Wonderful Dinning Experience!

This was first time in and expecting really good food because of the reviews and posters. Their signature item was the lump crab, was good. The rest must have been a bad time for me to order. I have had gumbo in several places this past week and had some excellent ones. This was not one of them. The gumbo was more a brown soup with a very spicy after taste, couple of shrimp and little bit of rice. I had ordered the seafood platter because I wanted to taste many items. This turned out to be a bad choice. On the menu it wasn’t clear what all was on the plate as sides. I got one choice and chose sweet potato. Waited a good while for the food to come out, but thought it would be fresh and hot. The plates came and my sweet potato was on wrong plate, but no problem. The plate look good except for having fries on it. I opened up my sweet potato and put butter on it and it didn’t melt, it was luke warm. Most of the plate was just warm and nothing outstanding. Sevice was just ok. Prices were very high for what I got, $72. I was very disappointed. The chef must have been off tonight, because he wouldn’t have sent it out like that.
