Visited Ponysaurus Brewing and it was packed when we arrived — and stayed that way all the way until closing, which says a lot about how popular this place is. The space itself is lovely with a great vibe, making it an awesome spot to hang out.

They have a solid selection of beers along with a good food menu. I sampled a few beers as part of a flight and really enjoyed them. Standouts for me were the Ponysaurus Off-Dry NC Cider, DBMTP (Don’t Be Mean to People: A Golden Rule Saison), and the Mango Guava Wit — all flavorful and well crafted.

For food, we ordered the hot chicken buffalo wings and fried Brussels sprouts, both of which were tasty. The absolute highlight on the food side, though, was the curly fries — crispy, perfectly seasoned, and honestly addictive.

They also have a wide variety of pizzas on the menu, which are definitely on my list to try next time.

Overall, a fantastic brewery with great beer, satisfying food, and an energetic atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

My girlfriend and I have tried to eat here multiple times but it was always too crowded so we were hesitant. This weekend we got our chance and it was really good! I had the double smash burger with bacon slab and curly fries. She had the white based pizza with onions and mushrooms. Both were excellent and we’ll definitely be coming back.

Great for a quick bite in an easy and light atmosphere, and great with kids!

10 of us were sat quickly on Saturday early evening, and while we didn’t get any beer, we got tons of food and it was all solid, though I think the pizza left the most to be desired. Wings, salads, burger, fries were all great. Nice that kids can play outside until food was ready.

Then head across the street to get some great ice cream!

My wife and I had a mixed experience when we had dinner at Ponysaurus this week. On the one hand the food was very good. We had a delicious Brussel sprouts appetizer and a white pizza with toppings. On the other hand, customer beware! The process for ordering drinks and food is complicated, cumbersome, and ridiculous! A server comes to the table to take your drink order and get your payment. I had a delicious Scottish Ale beer and my wife had a glass of wine that for the quantity in the glass was very expensive. Then, to order food you have to register to use the QR menu and ordering system. They want your name, email address, credit card number, and some other information. I was very pleasantly surprised that they did not ask for a copy of my birth certificate, driver license number, Passport number, TSA number, and the number of children I have. If you want to have a leisurely time there and have your appetizers come out before your dinner, you have to pay for them separately. Then when you order your dinners, you have to order once again through their QR code and app and then pay for your dinner separately. Yes, three credit card transactions were needed to drink and eat there. The server is only available to take your drink orders and to bring your orders to the table. The traditional use of restaurant servers are not available when eating there. I must say that the server we did have for her limited involvement was friendly, helpful to teach us what we needed to do, and had a sense of humor. We do not understand the rationale for this arrangement but based on our overall experience and principles, we will not be returning to dine here.

First time coming here even though I’m familiar with the shopping center , was able to get served quickly so I tried the flight which came with 4 flight size beers. I chose 1 cider, 2 sours and a weisse. I thought it was plentiful and the presentation was cute. My group sat upstairs where it was more seating and they also had a server up there to take drink orders. Would try this place again.

Overall Rating: 6.8/10

Atmosphere: 7.3/10
Located in Raleigh Ironworks, the restaurant offers a dynamic dining experience with outdoor seating and a quieter upstairs area. It features self-service amenities, including scan-to-order at tables and self-serve condiments and take-home options. The decor includes a standout dinosaur sculpture, contributing to the restaurant’s unique and modern vibe. The place maintains cleanliness throughout, although the self-serve water was noted to be warm.

Service: 5.9/10
Service is limited to food delivery, with all other aspects being self-served. Interaction with staff is minimal but pleasant, primarily when they deliver food to the table. Despite the restaurant’s busyness, food delivery was notably swift.

Food:

Cheese Pizza (5.4/10): A decent offering with a thin crust that could benefit from being crispier. While visually appealing and of good quality, the overall taste is good but not remarkable.

Chicken Sandwich (8.1/10): Exceptional, ranking among the best in Raleigh. The chicken is perfectly crispy, complemented by a tasty mix of veggies and sauce, providing excellent value.

Cheeseburger with Bacon (6.9/10): Very satisfying with a thick, well-cooked patty and notably crunchy bacon on a garlic-flavored bun. Accompanied by good fries, the quality justifies the experience.
Garlic Knots (6.7/10): Freshly made with the right balance of seasoning and butter, crunchy on the outside and soft inside, offering a delightful appetizer option.

Value: 6.5/10
The pricing is appropriate for the quality and dining experience provided. While certain items might be a bit costly, the overall value is satisfactory, especially given the quality of the food and the unique dining environment.

Thr pizza as always was exquisite. The Alfredo base truly compliments the white onions and bacon. Not only was the crust cooked to near perfection the placement of each topping placed in a way where you got to enjoy there compatibility with each bite.

Great spot in Raleigh for beer and hanging with friends. Good beer selection, tasty cider and seltzers. Pizza was good, but there was something a little spicy that I didn’t expect. The acoustics were horrible so it seemed really loud. Two complaints: Too many little kids running around. There’s a really cool slide outside that they should have been playing on instead of playing in a brewery. And most importantly, they need to have a more organized way of ordering beer at the bar. It felt like I was at a college bar fighting for the bartender’s attention and it took 10 minutes to get served. I’ll try this place again when it’s not the newest place in town. UPDATE: I’ve been back three times and it’s much more chill. The food is great and the staff are friendly. Give it a go!

Why would I come back: What a cool environment, so much fun. Open, airy, bright and energetic space with tons of seating and lots of outdoor tables. Large horseshoe concrete booths great for a party of friends, higtops for those not into booth life and so many other seating options. There’s even a big slide! The beers are an ecelitic mix of ideas and styles. Belgian Black Ale to Beir De Garde to Mango Orange Wit to Cherry Pie sour. There’s only ONE IPA on tap (Gasp)! Full bar with some tasty house cocktails and frozen drinks (it gets Hottt in Raleigh)! They are a pizza place, but have an extensive menu with snacks, wings, salads and even burgers. Something for everyone, food or drink wise.

Very chill, laid back. The pizza is super thin crust and it’s fantastic. The salads are also very good. Great for kids because it’s so casual and there’s a lot for the kids to look at including big TVs and the centerpiece “ponysaurus” skeleton. Be prepared for the help-yourself / self-serve format. Order on your phone and your order is delivered to your table quickly but if you need napkins, silverware, or even cups of water, you get that yourself.
