After living in the neighborhood for years, we were excited to try PV and went around 7 on a Friday night.

It was busy (10 mins wait for a table for 2) so we had a drink at the bar. We had an espresso martini ($20) and a negroni ($18) and for two drinks+tax+tip, it was slightly over $50! They were good but a little steep imo.

We had the stuffed artichoke ($16) which came with a medium sized artichoke but the only stuffing was a bit on top. Literally just on top and had nothing stuffed into the leaves so that was disappointing. Perhaps there was a new person prepping this dish.

My husband had the chicken marsala and it was good – not a huge portion compared to other neighborhood Italian restaurants. I had a pasta dish which was lacking in salt and pepper. My husband tried it and said the same thing. They gave us a tin container of cheese and most places usually come by with fresh black pepper or grated cheese. Maybe it’s unfair to expect that from every Italian restaurant but for the price and that is a Fine Italian restaurant, I anticipated that level of service.

We sat in the corner and between the music and the large group next to us that was loudly enjoying with their friends (as they should!), we had to yell at each other to be heard and we’re not even 40 yet. Before we finished our last bite, we gave up trying to talk and got the check. The waiter asked us if something was wrong and I shared it was a bit loud. He apologized but it’s not his fault.

Overall, we were disappointed by the experience. Perhaps it was an off day and maybe we’ll give it another try.

Whatever you do–check your bill. The biggest problem I had with this restaurant was being overcharged for my entree vs the price on the menu. The waiter did correct this when I brought it to his attention. This restaurant also charges $10 for using your debit/credit card. I eat out all the time, I have never seen a charge like this. The seafood salad was good. The wine was reasonably priced per glass. However–I was really disappointed with my entree. The chicken caprese was a pounded chicken breast–a couple of cut up pieces of zucchini and asparagus for $30. I couldn’t even tell it was asparagus. There are much better dining options here in Bay Ridge. The good news is that I will be spending my hard earned money elsewhere.

Ponte Vecchio was the perfect place to come back to Brooklyn for the holidays. I came here with my mother, who grew up in Bay Ridge, and it felt like such a special way to celebrate with both great food and great memories.

We started with the Lioni burrata with broccoli rabe, baked clams oreganata, and calamari — and every starter was excellent. The burrata was firm and creamy without being overly watery, and the broccoli rabe was perfectly cooked, not bitter at all, and nicely seasoned with garlic and oil. The baked clams and calamari were both delicious, but the marinara served with the calamari really stood out — truly exceptional.

For mains, I ordered the pollo caprese, which was tender, juicy, and a very hearty portion. My mom had the veal spiedini, and it was just as satisfying. After all the starters, the portions were so generous that we both ended up taking leftovers home.

We finished with dessert — tartufo and what may be the best pistachio ricotta cake I’ve had in a long time. A perfect ending to the meal.

Service was attentive without ever feeling overbearing, which made the whole experience even better. Ponte Vecchio is absolutely worth the trip to Brooklyn — for the food, the atmosphere, and the nostalgia. We’ll definitely be back.

First time there. Waited even though we had reservations and others “regular guests “were seated after we were there waiting. Pasta was very good, baked clams were delicious. Escarole very good. My veal spedini was tough. Service was pleasant and good. Very loud, hard to hear our conversation.

Wow, I get to write review #500!
Classy Italian restaurant with solid entree and appetizer choices and a willingness to make off the menu dishes. Even the bread is excellent! Outstanding desserts, leave room if you can!
Their service is top notch (thank you Pat and your assistant from Ecuador whose name I did not catch).
A popular restaurant with a well earned reputation. I suggest you go at an off hour when it is not crowded

Appetizers were ok until I received a steak with a salad covered in balsamic vinegar on the same plate.!! Big mistake. Salads should always be served separately. It ruined the whole dinner since I was looking forward to that steak.
Service was horrible. So many “big shots” waiters.
We were sat next to their station close to the restrooms and we could keep hearing them complaining about almost every table. It was not nice.
Atmosphere, Loud music it seemed like we were in a nightclub and not a restaurant.

I think the vibe of this place is great and service is excellent. The food is pricey, especially for Bay Ridge, and leaves a little to be desired. We got the calamari which was quite good and a big portion to start. Bread was good too. Had the veal parm as my main which only came with broccoli. It was aight. Nothing special. the sauce was good and it was pounded thin but could have been a better piece of veal. Also no pasta? This is Italian American not Italian. The pasta/primi and secondi combo shouldn’t apply here. Let me tell you why… my partner got the farfalle dish which had large chunks of lightly fried chicken in it. This dish was reasonably tasty but large chunks of meat should not be in a primi. Considering the vibe of the rest of the menu, I thought it was a bit strange to not include pasta and have a relatively mediocre veal chop. I also thought her dish was just average. Nothing special about the pasta and strange to have such large chunks of light breaded chicken.

Overall I would rate this below Michaels or Spumoni in Brooklyn and below the great spots on Arthur Ave but better than your average Italian in Manhattan for vibe and service. It is a great place with a big party but maybe not the best if you want top top tier Italian cuisine.
