I had a gift card to Ponderosas that was 20 years old. I haven’t been up in the area in what feels like a couple decades. But I was on a trip up there recently and happen to be in the area and used the gift card. I got a steak and partook in the all you can eat buffet. The gift card seem to give them troubles but they still honored it nonetheless. I am happy to say that Ponderosas is the same great restaurant it’s always been so give it a try if you’re in the area and need a bite to eat!

Wanted to try Ponderosa while visiting the Dells mainly because I havent seen one in 30 years. While it wasn’t outright bad, it wasn’t good either. Ordered the ribeye for 28 dollars which also comes with the salad bar. The salad bar wasn’t bad. It came with pizza, tacos, macn cheese, a form of meat loaf, chicken. The steak was not that good. About one third of it was fat. Not to mention I wanted medium rare and the steak was medium well. I can see why there aren’t many of these around anymore. The service was decent. The waitress kept our drinks filled. So overall not great and not bad, hence the 3 stars.

Great place to eat! My steak was cooked just perfectly and the buffet had a lot of great options and the price was low. I had a ribeye dinner with the buffet for less than $30. It was $10 for a children’s buffet. Our waiter was great making sure we were well take care of! Definitely recommend!!!

Growing up my family LOVED going to Ponderosa. Tonight my family wanted to have variety and visit Ponderosa for my wife’s birthday dinner. We could not have been more disappointed. The selection of food was absolutely under temperature, food had been on the Buffett for several hours (without a doubt), and our salmon was very fishy and unpleasant to say the least. They lacked options and nothing really felt appealing. My daughter’s dessert even had what appeared to be metal in her Buffett dessert (remnants of a metal scrubby). Our server was lacking enthusiasm in every capacity and it made sense based on the rest of the ambience of the place. She complained about her day, and that was the extent of her rapport.
This was the worst Buffett experience we’ve ever had, hands down. We don’t write reviews often but we wanted to save people from this horrible “restaurant” option as there as so many other options close by. If it were my business, I’d close the doors and cut my losses. This place should not be serving food. PSA don’t waste your money here.

I won’t sugar coat it this place sucked. The food was gross and greasy. Salad bar had just ice berg shreds. Chicken was greasy. Mac n cheese sucked no flavor. Microwaving food shouldn’t be a practice in restaurants. Everything tasted microwaved. 20 dollars and change per person was outrageous for microwaved food. I am telling people not to come here. The servers however were very nice.

My family and I stopped in last night (01/17/2026) around 5:30 PM for dinner. The restaurant was busy so the wait at the door as there was only 1 hostess/cashier was about 10 minutes which was absolutely understandable, they were very busy and there was a line out the door. The food was your standard buffet food. But what really stood out to us was the service! Our server was a lady by the name of Mama D. She was so sweet and very hands on. Making sure we had everything we needed. I regret not remembering the hostess name but she was amazing as well. The rest of the servers and staff were all very friendly as well. As we were leaving we couldn’t help but to notice the beautiful hand woven quilts hanging up and the hostess explained to us that the owner hand made each of those fabulous quilts. So beautiful to look at! Thank you for making last night special for me and my family who were having a little reunion.

I haven’t ate at a Ponderosa in years because all of them are gone where I live at but this one was pretty good. The salad was really good and they have fresh fruit which was a plus if you’re looking for something healthier. I tried the pot roast and it was kinda tough. Usually pot roast is falling apart if it’s cooked right. Everything else was good. This particular Ponderosa seems like it needs a little improvement on the outside.

A bit run down on the outside, inside isn’t so bad. Our server was great, very attentive. I remember ponderosa as a child and always going there for birthdays in my home town. So was excited to see it still existed, food was okay, definitely some things they could work on. It just bring the nostalgia back when coming here!

I couldn’t believe that there’s still a Ponderosa around. This place is great. From the service to the food, everything was great. I recommend getting a full meal, it comes with the buffet. So you can actually eat while you’re waiting for your main meal.

This is not the Ponderosa I remember growing up. We wanted to try it as our first stop for dinner during our stay at Kalahari but it was disappointing. Staff was fine and friendly but the food was average. I got the center cut sirloin and it was the best of our meals. My wife got the salmon and it was disappointing. Buffet was ok. Some good, and some items were sitting for awhile. We felt it was pricey.
