Craving some Mexican food on the way back from the cabin and the wife’s nostalgia kicked in and we stopped into Poncho & Lefty’s restaurant.
First time for me and was excited to see if this was a destination eatery.
The exterior looked typical of a Mexican style restaurant and well kept.
The interior is in much need of a serious renovation. Ripped booth seats, old lighting, and 2 of 3 male urinals out of order during our visit. Not a great first impression…
We were greeted and seated immediately and a few moments later, our drink and food order was taken by a wonderful young female server. She was great, quick and attentive to our requests.
The chips and salsa appetizer was fresh and tasty.
We’re huge fans of fajitas and Poncho & Lefty’s has a great one!!
The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the veggies were cooked but crisp. Tortilla’s were warm and the plate with lettuce, Pico de Gallo, cheese and sour cream was enough to make 4 tacos each. We bought an additional plate and tortillas since no Fajitas for two.
This place has a ton of potential but in a desperate need of a renovation. Would eat here again. Thank you.

Something has gone wrong here. Even 2 months ago the food was delicious but this Sunday’s lunch meal was a disaster. Did they change cooks? Our food was dry, cold and very sloppily plated. We waited 45 minutes from ordering to being served. The waitress FINALLY asked us if we wanted more chips at the 40 minute mark. My daughter orded a side of fries…never got them but was charged for them. My husband ordered steak that was overcooked and tough, the fries he ordered were COLD my Chile relleno had soaked in all the green sauce by the time it was served probably from being microwaved multiple times before being served and was only lukewarm at best. My barbacoa enchilada was in the same state and the meat was dry probably from being reheated too long or too often, it’s supposed to be juicy. When the waitress FINALLY came around we were almost done eating and when i told her the issues with the food she didn’t offer to do or fix anything. The least she could have offered is to bring my husband fresh fries, we would have said no because it was too late, but she didn’t try to offer anything. That’s not how you do business folks. My daughter had ordered a strawberry lemonade after we ordered our food and she had to ask for it twice and it was finally brought over when we were almost done eating. So disappointing the service and food was EL SUCKO but the check was on time and muy grande. Bummer, hope it gets fixed as we’ve always loved it here!!

I’ve been eating here for the last 40 years. When it was t Juan’s everything was perfect. To say its gone down hill is an understatement. Its been dragged over the Mariana trench and left for dead. The food was inedible. Huge chunks of salt all over every chip we got to scrape off, the chimichangas were microwaved and tasted old and soggy, the roho sauce was reduced down to a tomato paste consistency, and the beans were a few days past its prime. It should have been a red flag when the parking lot had 3 cars during the lunch rush. The portions have been reduced to a third of what they were even 5 years ago, however prices have gone up 50%. Save your taste buds and $ and just goto tacobell across the parking lot! To the manager….dont bother with a generic apology asking me to reach out to the manager to make it right. You destroyed the 1 mexican restaurant I actually enjoyed by cutting corners. I will not be back. Luckily we have el tequilas in the area now. You are dead to me!

My 1st time here at Poncho & Lefty’s, but it’s my parents fav place. Thank goodness there are booths very close to the door, and the bathrooms are close by, as well! It was happy hour when we happened to be there! My dad got his Margarita on sale and our bacon & cheese quesadillas were (huge BTW) about $3-4 off too! No one was inside the restaurant, despite the parking lot seeming to be full. Blue accessible /handicap parking right near three door! Great place to go and eat! Check out my pictures!

They had a gluten “friendly” menu which was nice and our server was knowledgeable of cross contamination and what substitutions to make. All of that was great.
Food too a bit longer to come out than expected and was not the best. I had the Fajita and either they chose a super cheap cut of beef or it was frozen and/or overcooked. Very tough. The Barbacoa was very similar, gritty and mediocre.
My wife had the durango enchiladas and wasn’t very impressed either.
Server was good but seemed like she had the whole restaurant to serve so she had a hard time checking in on everyone.
Place looked decent and had a good atmosphere. Men’s bathroom needed some TLC as well. It was 2 in the afternoon and shouldn’t have looked like that.

We stopped in on our way out of town, and really enjoyed our lunch. We had enchiladas and chorizo burrito. Delicious! Definitely enough for left overs!

Ordered the lunch special fajitas. The fajitas were fantastic! The tortilla shells were hard as could be. I tried to pull off the bad part but gave up. lol. The server was very nice and offered to replace but I just made a salad instead!

The worst Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. Yuck! I think the cook should try tasting the food before it goes out! Flavors were way off!!!!
