we’ve been on a quest to try banquets around Brisbane and have visited about five different restaurants as of now. Pompette easily and with no doubt ranks at the very bottom of our list in terms of price/value. We had high expectations considering the establishment is rated 4.8, however the food was very disappointing.

To start with, the baguette was HARD (every other establishment excelled here, serving fresh bread straight out of the oven, but not Pompettee).. that’s a horrible start and it sets the mood for the rest of the dishes. We didn’t taste a single dish that left an impression on us.. perhaps the salad dressing was good, but the remaining dishes were bland. The fish didn’t taste like much, the steak didn’t taste like much and overall just a disappointing experience.

Very confused on how this establishment is so highly rated. We were happy with the service and ambience.. zero complains about the staff.. but the whole point of going to a restaurant is the food, and hopefully to taste something special. In that regard, Pompette ranks at the very bottom of our Brisbane banquet list.

Came here for the oh la la banquet and it’s worth the money-ish (although some items were mid).

Steak was the star for me, great fish, fresh oysters but had a side of really pungent vinaigrette mix, interesting cured meat (pungent in a good way but may too be pungent for some).

Not so great – the tough bread was a nono. Dessert was probably too heavy and I personally don’t enjoy canned cherries, maybe an ice cream or sorbet would end the meal better.

Ambiance was nice, service was attentive but not as friendly? The vibe was not welcoming.

My partner and I went on a French-inspired date in Brisbane CBD, so we went to Pompette. Place was beautiful. Service was good. And food was great! I easily fell in love with their Souple A l’Oignon. I loved it!!! Loved their bombe alaska dessert too!

We went on Friday and saw they were busy, which was given since they’re in a prime location 🙂 So I suggest making a booking ahead of time to make sure you get a table.

Went here recently for my sister’s birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We were in the (semi) private dining room. This place exceeded my expectations. We did the banquet which was excellent – all courses were delightful and i would order the banquet again. Please avoid nearby restaurant called ‘Alloria’ which was truely an expensive disaster. Great flavours and textures at Pompette. Excellent attention to detail. They were able to accommodate for our group’s different deitary requirements including pescitarian and non-beef eating people. I highly recommened!! Usually places in great locations are over-rated but this place was a win. Cant wait to go back

The photos of this restaurant alone were enough to make us curious. Some of the reviews regard this food as “nothing special” but we would say the complete opposite. We have traveled across Australia for a couple weeks now and this was easily our favorite dining experience. The host and our waiter Valentin created such a welcoming and fine dining experience. Trust their recommendations! We got the espresso martini, the Sauvignon blanc, and a non-alcoholic wine which were all superb. For our apps we had the le saumon, and the salade ceaser crab (which was the only thing we didn’t LOVE). For entrees we had the crevettes, the French onion soup, the escargot, and the soufflé au comte which were all divine. For our plate we decided on the steak au poivre which was easily one of the best steaks we have ever had. To finish things off we had the Black Forest chocolate moose and the crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was incredible, even better than what Ive had in France. Thank you Valentin and Pompette for such a memorable dining experience.

Lunch special was nice. Like the fish dish the most. The texture was so tender. The steak was ok. The only thing that I didn’t like is the dessert which was too sweet and nothing special. The service was nice too. Overall, it was nice experience. Would love to try other menu next time.

Had lunch at Pompette in Queen’s Wharf today and absolutely loved it. The food was super fresh and tasty, didn’t leave us feeling bloated at all, which is a huge win! Service was great, though our dishes took a bit longer because the place was pretty busy. Prices are reasonable for the location and the view. Definitely coming back to try more dishes and drinks!

I would like to leave some feedback about Pompette.

First of all, I want to thank the entire team for the excellent work — especially Munnir, who always serves us with so much attention, care, and professionalism. The service is always welcoming, consistent, and of a very high standard.

I would also like to note that the comment made about the birthday celebration on 20 December 2026
does not make any sense to me. My experience was completely different — it was an incredible evening, with impeccable service from beginning to end. Everything was handled with organization, friendliness, and great dedication from the team.

I am a customer and a big fan of the restaurant — both the food, which is always wonderful, and the service, which in my experience has always been impeccable.

Thank you for maintaining such a high standard of quality.

I had the 88p course at Pompette, and overall it was not very satisfying.
While the structure of the course itself was fine, the beef tartare did not pair well with the overly sweet pastry sheet, which felt like a pre-made product.

The biggest disappointment was the steak.
We ordered two medium-rare and one medium-well, but the steaks served as medium-rare were actually well done. I checked with the waiter twice, and was told both times that they were medium-rare.
Ironically, the steak served as medium-well was closer to medium.

After raising the issue, the steak was re-cooked and the second version was much closer to medium-rare. While it could have been slightly rarer, it was at least noticeably more tender and juicy than the first one.

If you’re ordering steak here, I strongly recommend double-checking the doneness.
You may end up with a steak that’s two levels overcooked.

In the photo, the steak with no pink at all was presented as “medium-rare”, while the one with visible pink was served as medium-well.

(I’m a chef, but this isn’t about being picky — it felt more like a lack of consistency and basic doneness control.)

The duck was acceptable, though honestly, the carrot on the side was more memorable.
Considering the price, the value was disappointing, and I don’t plan to return.

Such a beautiful and elegant place to dine in. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.

All the dishes were wonderful but the one I came specifically to try this time was the escagots. It’s the first time for me and I could say that it’s so good. The MB5+ steak was perfectly grilled, very tender, fragrant, and juicy. Highly recommended. Will definitely come again.
