A Fantastic Start to the New Year!

What a wonderful way to kick off the new year with a great event! It was my first time trying Polish cuisine, and I loved every bite. Every dish was made from scratch and full of authentic flavors — truly a treat.

The restaurant itself is beautiful — the long mural, the decorations, everything has a charming, native touch that makes the space feel special. The upstairs area was a lot of fun, and the Polish vodka and DJ music added a lively, festive touch to the atmosphere.

There is also convenient parking near the restaurant, which made the visit even better. I can’t wait to come back!

I really enjoyed my time at Polonia! The staff treats you like family and really is passionate about the food and service that they provide. The homemade cherry and cranberry flavored vodkas were both absolutely delicious and I also loved the Tatanka with apple juice! The potato pancake was my favorite, so crisp! The potato and farmers cheese pierogis were full of filling and tasted so fresh! I can honestly tell you that Polish food is not my number one choice but everything tasted fresh and authentic, because it is all made-from-scratch. The grilled kielbasa, meatballs, and sauerkraut pleasantly surprised me with their flavor. You are in for an authentic, charming dining experience here!

Solid spot if you’re craving classic Polish comfort food. The portions are generous, the food is hearty, and everything tastes very traditional and home style. I ordered a few staples and left full and satisfied. Some dishes really shine, while others felt more good than great, which is why I’m landing at four stars instead of five. The atmosphere is casual and no frills, and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Our favorite Polish restaurant! Beautiful, clean restaurant, excellent food, and wonderful service!
Prices are fair also.
The dill soup is a must!
We love the city chicken and their kapusta is fantastic! Well worth the drive to Hamtramck.
Shown in the pic are the hot meatloaf sandwich and pork chop sandwich. Both were great! I believe the pork chop sandwich was on homemade bread. Very good.

Polonia Restaurant in Hamtramck is like stepping directly into a cozy dining room in the heart of Poland! The old-world charm, complete with wood-paneled walls and festive decor, creates the perfect atmosphere for a hearty, authentic meal.
The Dill Pickle Soup is an absolute revelation—creamy, tangy, and a must-try for any visitor. I can’t get enough of their Hungarian Goulash served over potato pancakes; the pancakes are perfectly crisp, and the stew is rich and tender. Whether you’re going for the classic Pierogi or the massive City Chicken, the portions are huge and the flavors are deeply nostalgic. It’s the ultimate comfort food destination in Michigan!

Fabulous each and every time. This restaurant should have been in the top 2 of Polish restaurants in metro Detroit !!

Beef barley mushroom soup is fabulous.

Mushroom crepes are top notch (maybe a little less gravy so you can see some of the beautiful crepe

Meat pierogi are also delicious

Homemade goodness

Recommendation- the young man who cleans the tables and puts down the silverware, bread and water should be a waiter because he is the only person who speaks Polish (other than the kitchen staff) and he is so nice.

This was my first visit to the restaurant… all I can say is that it’s wonderful how certain flavors can evoke such powerful memories. The way a dish tastes can truly transport us back to cherished times. Those familiar flavors become deeply connected to our personal histories. It sounds like you had a meal that brought back some wonderful feelings. Their food truly has the unique ability to connect us to the past. To put it simply, their food was just like my Mamusia used to make.

As for the service… We had a lovely dining experience! The staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. Our waitress was fantastic; she was attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. It truly elevated our meal to have such friendly service. We will definitely be back!

As for the atmosphere… I really enjoy places with a more modern design. This place has a bright and open floor plan is so refreshing. It’s nice to have some space and not feel crowded. The atmosphere was very inviting! It makes it a great place to eat and feel comfortable while you eat.

As for their prices…I was so pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was! It felt like stepping back in time to when dining out didn’t break the bank. The portions were generous, too, which made it even more of a value. It’s great to see a place keeping prices reasonable for their customers. We’ll definitely be back!

Not super busying during weekday lunch! Has been part of the community for many many MANY years.

They have street parking and paid parking lot which services the whole street.

They offer a large variety of polish dishes as well as some simple American items.

On this trip I picked up a mean for my grandfather and got home the polish trio dinner with soup . $13 for a full meal is a good deal.

It took about 20 mins and we were ready to go.

The servers and sweet and take the order and make sure you know what you’re getting. They have a bar seating area as well a booths and tables

This place is handicapped accessible.

10 outta 10 every time !
