Went to this recently opened plaza azteca because I’ve been to others and they were good. We gave our drink order, and waited a bit to get them. We asked for cheese sauce and white sauce for the tortilla chips, we only got the cheese sauce.
The server was very nice but very slow to return after that. When she did take our food order the food came reasonably quickly.
However, the portion size here for the price was small. On all 5 counts. On my order, it was 17.00 for two taco size quesadias and rice as a side and i thought this was just not worth the price. The menu said shredded beef or shredded chicken
I got one of each, the beef”taco” had three “chunks”of beef in it (not shredded)with cheese and sauce. And the chicken had chunks of chicken along with some that was shredded. Not at all what i expected.
I was just not at all thrilled with this new place
Everything tasted good, but again portion size didn’t match the price.
I guess I’ll stay with Zocallo or Mexico.

We had the pleasure of attending the pre-opening / soft opening of the new Plaza Azteca in Mechanicsville yesterday, and the experience truly exceeded our expectations.
We were assisted by KIMBERLY , our outstanding server who we highly recommend. Her professionalism, attentiveness, and friendly service went above and beyond and made our visit special. We would also like to recognize Edwin, who prepared an excellent guacamole—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made.
The manager, Alex, was very attentive throughout the evening and checked in with us a couple of times to make sure everything was going well, which we truly appreciated.
The atmosphere was great, the drinks were delicious, and the food was outstanding. I ordered the Pollo Patrón, which was absolutely delicious. Our friend ordered a Piña Loca, which was amazing, and my nephew ordered shrimp, which were also excellent.
We give five stars because that is the highest rating available—but if we could rate it higher like Dubai, we definitely would. We highly recommend Plaza Azteca – Mechanicsville to all the families in the area. Stop by and visit and ask for kimberly—you will not be disappointed.

Made our first visit to this location today for lunch. We were greeted by smiles and gracious staff and served incredible food. This place is beautiful. The bar especially is modern and beautiful, although a full backed upholstered chair would be more comfy. Drinks were very good. The place is meticulously clean! The portions are very generous too! My husband had the Birria Ramen …oh Emm Gee y’all! So good! I had the typical #1 taco, enchiladas with rice and couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Freaking delicious!

I got the burrito Tejano and thats my go to with Mexican restaurants if they have it and this was delicious and pretty big. For the price of $20 though, I was expecting more. I love my Patron and they serve a pretty good size for a decent amount which is why that place has been my go to, aside from location.
What made the experience was our server Ana. She was so sweet, warned us about sizes of drinks, made great suggestions and was pretty attentive after she got both her tables settled. Granted we were a party still waiting for people so it was a good opportunity to settle one table while another wasn’t all there. Having been a server once, I understand when the crowd hits it can be overwhelming.
She was awesome!

We’d been desparately waiting for this location to open and very glad we got to enjoy it today before hunkering down for the storm! The inside is beautiful and the staff is on top of everything! Could hardly believe how busy they were just for lunch and the kitchen still got everything out super fast and hot! There was a little confusion on who our server was but the gentleman that ultimately helped us was amazing!! This will definitely be a new regular spot for us! Seafood chimichangas and fish tacos were delicious!

We had a large party of 20+ on Saturday evening after a baseball game. I called to confirm our reservation that I had made earlier in the week and there was a slight mishap on communication. Eduardo was so incredibly helpful in making it work for our group. Alex our server was patient and wonderful! A big thank you to accommodating some hungry baseball players. Everything was fantastic!
