I would love to give Sam’s a higher review, but ever since the move to the new location, it simply doesn’t have the warm, inviting vibe it previously did. The food & drinks are good, pretty pricey for some things but generally good quality. Usually the person taking the orders seems pretty disinterested and although i’ve never had a “rude” employee, the customer service & enthusiasm is lacking a bit. My biggest qualm is really the environment/decor. The place is huge with a lot of empty space/very little decor and bright teal walls that dont give that comfortable coffee shop feeling anymore 🙁 Maybe that’s not so important to others, but it’s something I enjoy for sure!

A friend invited me for coffee saying she was waiting to try the place as she’s a recent resident.
I was a little late, it was about 2:15 on a weekday. It was empty except for one other table.
I made myself a coffee and noticed it was barely above lukewarm. I tried to get the attention of someone but three employees were at the far end of the place near the kitchen, talking and laughing.
My friend noticed and came up , got their attention and explained the issue and that I would appreciate a hot cup of coffee.
A young woman looked at the cup and said, “there’s steam coming out of it” with the most deadpan face resembling a flat tire…
I was forced to reiterate that I would appreciate a hot cup of coffee, politely I may add.
With a dramatic huff she went to get me the manager/owner Caroline who proceeded to look down her nose at me and grill me again about the issue. ” Well, I’ll have to make a fresh pot, she pointed out as if I were a little measle virus. I said , “Thank you”.
I went back to the table to talk to my friend and expected to be told when the fresh coffee was ready. After a while I finally had to ask..again all were at the far end of the bar unconcerned and
gossiping and generally yakking.
My friend said,” Well they’ve lost my business”.
I told a friend who goes there and asked if they’ve always been so snotty.. they said, “Yep”.
“Even when they were in town?”
“Yep.”
” Same owner?”
“Yep.”
So that’s my review fwiw.
I hate being treated like dog doo. It isn’t cool no matter how cool the proprieter and employees think they are.

First time here. It is a little different. Walk in to a big room with menus on the wall and things all around you. I chose the Chef’s Salad with a soda. The meal was delicious. I also found the place clean and orderly. I highly recommend this place.

My first time at the new location, and appreciate they moved to a larger space. The old location was cramped and crowded, and the new space is spread out. I had a hot roast beef and brie sandwich, and it was as good as before. Good food and good service! The bare painted walls look a bit sterile, and it would look nice decorated with photos or artwork.

I used to really like visiting Play it Again Sam when it was in the center of town (or close to it) but always got frustrated by the size of the restaurant as it was quite small and frequently too busy to accommodate the morning rush.
They moved to this new building and I like it. It’s huge compared to the old place. The menu has gotten as big as the building and the 3 or 4 dishes we’ve had (my wife and me) have been tasty. The coffee from Rise Up is always a treat.
Highly recommended.

Unfortunately both times I’ve been, as I’m new to the area, my order was wrong. It’s hard to have this happen when you wanna support local and their influxes in prices so please do better. Update they’re also super snarky sometimes and I understand you’re stressed during rushes but acting as if you want me out your hair isn’t right nor is it good customer service as I am usually picking up for people and am nothing but nice.

Why do I even keep coming to this place?
Perhaps it is for the wifi and the nice sitting areas? Perhaps.
However, I don’t really know what to make of their food. It is pricey. Not that tasty. Carelessly prepared. People with dietary restrictions should think twice about it, because, again, you can’t be certain they adhere to your requests.
I have come now between 4-5 times and I walk out EVERYTIME with a stomach “disturbance,” putting it gentle.

Always good food except there is often a wait for your order. Call ahead if in a hurry! I usually order the Badass sandwich and this one was on a bagel. They also serve Rise Up coffee.

I have been going here for years and the service has always been wonderful. Some of the previous employees knew my order by heart when I walked in. The friendly atmosphere was relaxing and the daily “Hi Kiki, your usual?” is something I’ve really missed since moving away. I absolutely loved the old location and have only been to the new one once but the larger space is definitely nice for both customers and employees.

I was a big fan of the old location, it was so cozy and eclectic and welcoming. The new location is devoid of all charm – entirely too loud and not the least bit cozy. There is no personality. No art on the walls, no board games, no books – everything feels soulless and corporate. It could be a generic Starbucks-wannabe in any city. It’s so loud and echoing you can’t hear yourself think. Would benefit from some sound deadening features and some attempt at feeling cozy and original. You cannot sit at the bar to eat unless you’re unusually tall, the bar is too high up from the chairs. I ordered a cappuccino and it took like ten minutes to get my order. I went back and ordered a sandwich and it was only okay, not much meat on it for the high cost ($14). I will only get takeout from now on unless changes are made.
