Visited twice in one month. At the first visit the waitress was abrasive, unattentive and not helpful. We arrived at the start of dinner when there was only one couple in the restaurant. At that point they were out of several entrees and side dishes. We were never offered any complimentary corn bread and had to flag down the waitress to order, get water refills and get our check. On the plus side, the salmon salad with spinach was very good. The salmon was larger than most dinner portions and the dressing was tasty. The onion rings are housemade and not pre-coated so they were very good. On the second visit we asked for the corn bread. The order was wrong and instead of shrimp, and brussel sprouts, we received salmon and green beans. The waiter was happy to correct it and it was quick. He was very attentive, kind and helpful and the other staff was polite as well. Overall the food is tasty, portions are good size and its worth the visit. NOTE, there is a service charge and a tip auto added to the bill, which total 18% so be careful when paying.

I believe they had an AM skeleton crew to reserve a majority of their team for a paid valentines event they were having later that day. Although understandable, service suffered. Our mimosas were made within 10 minutes of ordering, but took 30 minutes to get to our table after having to flag down two waitresses. We contemplated getting the drinks ourselves. There’s no bottomless, but a $30 carafe is plenty for two. Our waitress had to take our order twice. We waited another 30 minutes for one dish, then had to flag a waitress down 10 minutes later to ask about the other items. I swear she went back there to cook it herself. An hour after being seated, and the kitchen got my order wrong. Grits instead of potatoes, over hard instead of over easy, and the slab of American for an extra $1 was just disappointing. For a place that says it’s a southern kitchen those grits were criminal. The stuffed French toast was just whipped cream in between the toast, not actually stuffed with fruit. It wasn’t super busy, but the workers seemed to be drowning and the kitchen was definitely short. For a restaurant being attached to a hotel, you have to be staffed and mindful of possible hotel conferences and holidays.

I visited Platez Southern Kitchen with a large party for brunch. Even though we booked our reservation weeks in advance, the restaurant wasn’t prepared. It took well over an hour and a half after ordering for our food to arrive.

I ordered the chicken & waffles, cornbread bites, and a strawberry peach margarita. The cornbread bites with honey drizzle were a nice start, and the margarita was balanced and refreshing. Unfortunately, the chicken—though cooked properly—wasn’t seasoned, and the waffle was overcooked.

On top of that, the service left much to be desired. I had to ask multiple times for condiments and waited over 20 minutes just to receive them. Customer service is very important to me, and this really hurt the experience.

What made it worse was the bill. A large party tip, an extra “service fee,” and then a regular tip option added up to an outrageous total — especially considering the lack of preparation, slow service, and disappointing food.

Overall, while the drinks were good, the combination of unseasoned food, long waits, and excessive charges makes it hard for me to recommend this place or want to return.

My first time visiting Platez for brunch and I was well taken care of by Tammi and Iman. They were very attentive and wanted to make sure I had a positive experience at their restaurant. There was a live DJ playing. I had the Gouda grits and catfish, collard greens, sunny side up mocktail and a strawberry muffin. The grits and catfish was good and hot. The collard greens were lukewarm but still good. I wish I had a chance to try the blueberry muffin as the strawberry muffin tasted like it was made with strawberry quik. Overall I enjoyed my meal and my service at Brunch.

Brunch here was amazing! The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and the shrimp and grits were so good they were gone in two minutes! The portions were generous, and Zakeia kept our drinks flowing—especially that frozen peach and strawberry margarita! A straight vibe from start to finish!

I had this restaurant saved on my list after discovering it on social media so one day I decided to visit. When I arrived I had to drive around the corner to the parking garage for parking it was a three minute walk. When I walked in I got seated right away the waitress let me pick where I wanted to sit. The place was clean, looked nice & had outdoor seating that was covered. Our waitress was very nice & outgoing. The place wasn’t crowded but despite only a few people being there I had to wait on my food longer than I feel I should have. The waitress wasn’t sure what was going on in the kitchen but she apologized & did her best with keeping me updated. I also ordered a drink & had to wait on that also because I was sitting in the bar area & the bartender was supposed to bring it to me but my waitress ended up getting it for me. While I waited me & my date passed time by playing this card game the restaurant had available where you & your date ask each other questions. Once I got my food it was good my drink was good as well & my waitress gave me an extra catfish to make up for the inconvenience. My experience could’ve been better but I’ve experience worse but I would go back.

If you’re in the Atlanta/Decatur area, you’ve got to try it. We had the “Veggie Platter” which is basically any four sides from their menu. We chose collard greens, Brussels sprouts, Mac & cheese, and yams. For dessert we had the peach cobbler and the bar tender (Nicole) whipped up an awesome virgin strawberry and pineapple piña colada. We met the restaurant manager and had the best server (Chris). Great experience for singles, couples, groups, or families.

Was in town for work and decided to stop by Platez. From the bartender, to the waitress, Hostess, DJ and Chef it was an amazing experience. The food was really good and the vibes were even better. My steak was cooked to perfection a perfect medium. The greens were seasoned and the treat the blueberry cornbread. Wasn’t to sweet just right.
