Wow! The food and service here are incredible. I wish we had bigger appetites so we could keep eating

The crispy oysters, shrimp bisque, gnocchi and steak au poivre were all fresh and flavorful

I was initially disappointed that the only seating available was at the bar, but I soon realized that we had the best seats in the house. The bar looks directly into the kitchen were we could watch the chefs work their magic and is actually a bit quieter than the rest of the tiny dining area.

Make reservations! This place is extremely small

We’ll definitely be back for more

An out of town guest found this hidden gem online and invited us for dinner here. It’s located in a tiny retail space that has had lots of turnover through the years. You would not expect the taste treat delights that come out of the kitchen. Everything we ordered was top notch and delicious.

There are only seats for 25-28 and reservations are recommended. It seems to be staggered seating times- maybe every 15 minutes for dinner. Everything we ordered was perfect. My husband and I split 3 smalls and a bread pudding. See for yourself!

Tiny little place tucked away in Metairie with limited parking but it’s not as bad as it might be in Orleans Parish. Very interesting menu that appears to be a very fresh ingredients that changes regularly, the chefs definitely know how to execute good food and everything was cooked and presented quite well. I did find the flavors were a little more on the demure side for my personal tastes, nothing very bold. This place, like its size, is minimalistic. I wish them tremendous success.

Wonderful quaint restaurant in the previous yakuza house location. Rotating menu with a variety of small and large plates to share. Great for intimate gatherings with a small group, there is also 4 bar height seats to watch the magic happen in the kitchen.

We had such a wonderful dinner at Dr. Jones. All three of the small plates we tried were absolute knockouts! The tuna crudo with sungold tomatoes and umeboshi was so bright and fresh, the jumbo lump crab with spaghettini and miso beurre blanc was rich and perfectly balanced, and the crispy oysters with yuzu kosho and fresh herbs were an instant favorite. We especially loved the sauce with the oysters…it tied everything together beautifully.

For a larger plate, we went with the shrimp scampi with lemongrass, lime leaf, and pickled chiles and absolutely loved it.

We ended with the warm bread pudding with cardamom caramel and pecans, which was delicious. That said, I wished for just a little more…maybe a dollop of whipped cream or even a grilled peach on top would take it from great to unforgettable.
The service was excellent—thank you, Will.
Overall, the menu is inventive, the flavors are memorable, and the whole experience was a great. We’ll definitely be back! To note, wine is BYOW (bring your own wine)

My husband and I had lunch here today. Lennon was our server. She was excellent. The food is unbelievable. We each had the oyster appetizer, my husband had the chicken and I had the pasta dish. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is the best cooking we have had in Metairie.

We just left and we’re already planning our next trip back. Everything we ordered was great. We got the Onion Ring Fritters, Mirliton-Cabbage Salad, Roasted Eggplant, Crispy Chicken Bites, and the Jamaican Jerk Steak. The Mirliton Salad is so good I kept putting my fork down and staring at the bowl.

We have to try everything else on the menu, but I’m definitely getting that salad again next time.

It’s BYOB so we might bring a bottle of wine on our next visit.

There has been alot of press on this small little restaurant this year and there is also alot to like. First is the feeling that you are guest in someone’s home. It’s small seating and cozy warmth is assuring that you are the focus of attention and no big party or jammed busy kitchen printer will take the kitchen or wait staff away from that focus. Second is a talented kitchen with exceptional technique and vision, executing their talents with conviction. Third a staff that on my visits seem to embrace the same vision as their chef-owners. My last visit on NYE held true to this but I did have disappointments. The menu is small and changes often. Nothing wrong with that, as long as, the new dishes match or exceed the replaced ones. There was a Peri Peri half bone-in chicken on previous menus that was exceptional. Also a croquette with tapioca and camanbert cheese. The later may have been the best wine food pairing of the decade. These were replaced with a new croquette with crab meat which was solid but wished the other had been available. The half chicken was replaced with a seared chicken breast with some fantastic potatoes. The chicken breast flavored nicely but dry and uninteresting and certainly a poor value for its hefty price tag. It would have been nice over an entree salad but as an entree it was disappointing. Overall Doc’s is a great foodie option offering real chef’s … delivering great artistic flair, in the food chain ruled suburbs of Metairie. I hope these guys have a long life and this gem stays around to enjoy for as long as they find it worth their efforts.

Dr. Jones – A Hidden Gem of Bold Flavors and Comfort Food

Tucked away in a cozy corner of town, Dr. Jones is the kind of restaurant that feels like a well-kept secret—until you take your first bite and realize it’s a place worth telling everyone about. With a menu packed full of soulful, flavor-packed dishes, this spot effortlessly blends comfort food with an adventurous twist.

Let’s start with the meat pies, which are nothing short of addictive. Each bite delivers a perfect balance of flaky, buttery crust and a savory, well-seasoned filling that melts in your mouth. They’re rich, indulgent, and the kind of thing you’ll be thinking about long after your meal.

The chicken here is on another level. Whether you get it fried to crispy perfection or slow-cooked in a deep, flavorful sauce, it’s clear that the kitchen knows exactly how to treat this staple right. Tender, juicy, and seasoned just right, it’s the kind of dish that keeps you reaching for just one more bite.

But if there’s one thing you absolutely can’t skip, it’s the gumbo. This bowl of Southern comfort is loaded with deep, smoky flavors, perfectly cooked seafood and sausage, and just the right amount of heat. Each spoonful is a warm hug, a reminder of why gumbo is a classic that never goes out of style.

For those who love bold, fiery flavors, the jerk steak is a must-try. Grilled to perfection and coated in a jerk seasoning that balances heat with a touch of sweetness, this dish is a showstopper. The steak is tender and full of flavor, with just the right amount of char to enhance every bite.

And then, there’s the bread pudding—a dessert so good it deserves its own fan club. Soft, rich, and drizzled with a sauce that should probably be bottled and sold, this dish is the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal.

Dr. Jones isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Whether you’re here for the gumbo, the jerk steak, or just a plate of warm, comforting food that feels like home, this place delivers in every way. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and get there soon. Your taste buds will thank you.
