The pretzel pizza was so delicious! The donuts look amazing. Whoever answered the phone was extremely helpful and courteous. We had a gift certificate and we will definitely be back.

First time here, and I really enjoyed it! The place was clean and inviting, with a nicely arranged donut display, each one labeled, which was a great touch. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich that was hot and flavorful. Unfortunately, I did find a small string in it, not a deal-breaker for me, but definitely something to watch for. After removing it, the sandwich was still enjoyable.

I also tried the strawberry shortcake cold brew. It had a sweet, strawberry flavor a bit different but not bad overall. Despite the minor issue with the sandwich, everything else was good, and I’ll definitely be back to try more!

Business Review for Plain N’ Fancy Donut Shop

Plain N’ Fancy Donut Shop has truly won our hearts with what we believe are the best donuts in Pennsylvania! The friendly staff and excellent customer service create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps us coming back for more.

However, there’s a significant challenge that this beloved shop is facing: keeping up with supply and demand. Despite our frequent visits, we’ve noticed that they often run out of donuts—especially our favorites—by the time we arrive, even as early as 9 AM on a weekday. This has become a common occurrence, and while we recognize that being the only donut shop in town can lead to this high demand, it’s still disappointing not to find the selections we eagerly anticipate.

We genuinely love this shop and appreciate the quality of their donuts, but it’s crucial for them to find a logistical solution to manage their popularity more effectively. Addressing this issue would enhance the customer experience and help maintain their reputation in the community. Overall, we highly recommend Plain N’ Fancy but hope they can find ways to ensure that their customers can enjoy the full variety of delectable offerings without the frustration of limited availability.

Their coffee also needs some work. While they always advertise for cold lattes and coffees I like mine hot, but every time I get hot it’s never hot. It’s just lukewarm and watery. Maybe some training on how to use a steamer properly?

Where to start… I messaged them on Instagram to ask about their 3lb Pretzel Challenge and how to schedule it. They told me I had to call in to schedule it. I called on Wednesday during my lunch break at work to schedule the challenge for Saturday. I was told we were all set for 3pm eat time on Saturday.

We arrived at 2:30 and were told they had lost our order.
The person who took our order didn’t know where they put it.
They said they finally figured out the time we were supposed to arrive and began to make the pretzels.

When the pretzels came out, one weighed 3.75 lbs and the other two Pretzels came out 1lb heavier at 4lbs!! Nothing was done or mentioned to us about the weight. Just that we had to finish them and weren’t allowed to chipmunk.

Not only were they heavier, but they didn’t have time to rest. And came out super thick, wet, and heavy. Which ended up making them much harder to eat. My leftovers the next day were better than the the fresh part I ate during the challenge…

Later when talking to a previous winner George Chiger I was informed that he was told “If they weighed more than 3lb that they’ll subtract that weight at the end so you don’t have to eat it at all.”

Sooo needless to say me and my friend both failed a challenge that we should have fairly easily been able to beat. We had to pay $50… It was a very sad experience.

I reached out to the restaurant to try and clear things up and make them right. They asked for my number and a time to call. I gave it to them and they never called, I reached out again to make sure they had everything and got no response….

Small local donut shop that also specializes in Acia bowls, pretzel bites and pizza. Stopped on Saturday morning so it was busy. Order food and drinks at the register in main lobby area. Lobby is small and can get very congested when busy. Food was excellent, donuts fresh, and Acia bowls was amazing. Check This Place Out!!

We tried Plain and Fancy for the first time since new ownership. We got the bacon egg and cheese on a pretzel roll and a half dozen donuts. Cost was $18.
Donuts we got were glazed, vanilla sprinkled cake, sugar cookie, powdered raspberry filled, hazelnut and Boston cream. I will say I personally felt the Boston cream and hazelnut weren’t my favorites and I wouldn’t order them again, but my husband enjoyed the Boston cream. The yeast rings and cake donuts are wonderful. Get them earlier in the day and you’ll get to enjoy the slight crisp on the outside they get after coming off the fryers which is the absolute best part of a fresh donut. The cake donut was soft and dense inside, excellent ratio of icing which was also delicious. The raspberry filled has always been a favorite and just like I remembered. The sugar cookie was amazing and I’d get that again for sure. Glazed was also very good. The breakfast sandwich was both filling and satisfying. Really enjoyed the pretzel bun and the ratio of eggs/bacon/cheese to bun. The pretzel has a crispy bottom and my husband and I both really enjoyed it.

I will say bottom line : it’s very good and if it was a little cheaper or if they ran some specials I’d likely make it a weekly visit.

The food is awesome especially the boom boom chicken sandwich. Not overly spicy and get your choice of toppings. The roll was fresh and homemade. Then sandwich is huge! Their homemade pretzel bites are super fresh and wildly delicious. Of course the donuts are amazing but definitely try out their other menu items. The only negativity is the lobby is small and gets crowded quickly. Difficult to figure out when it’s your turn to order.

I am going to start by saying that I have bought at the least 10 bear claws from here since moving in November. I have grown up in the area and we LOVE seeing Joe Valenti in the mornings when my mother and I stop in for pastries.

Now for the worst “customer service” experience I have ever been involved in personally. I purchased a vanilla bear claw (and 6 donuts) at around 2:15 on Wednesday February 5th. After getting home we tried the donuts, which are usually very good. The problem comes when I cut into the bear claw. The icing would usually be of the “consistency” of Chocolate Ganache (I’ll shout this again because he thought he was funny correcting me) CHOCOLATE GANACHE…It was in fact “donut icing”. I mean that DISGUSTING icing they use in cheap grocery store donuts

I go back to the store around 3:15 and they have a customer so I see who I believe is the “GM” and his ignorant wife. I say this because instead of listening to what I had to say I was met with an argument. I told them I had been here multiple times and this was not how they were normally prepared. The GM joked that it wasn’t ganache but he KNEW exactly what I was talking about. He even tried to gaslight me by saying “I just saw you a few days ago, is that when you got it?.” Which I hadn’t seen him in over a month. He offered no solution or refund. Just asked if I would like to try another. So I obliged and knew immediately after seeing about 10 other bear claws….the icing was wrong on ALL of them.

So I waited as the customer who was waiting paid for her 2 Pretzels…and it was her first time there and probably her last because even SHE felt uncomfortable when the owner and his “dog” were barking at me. So I politely declined the bear claws. Asked simply if I could have a turnover…he said they have cherry and apple and pointed them out. I took one and left.

I grew up in this area and I literally work around food and pastries EVERY DAY. I was actually told that “mayyyyyybe…this isn’t to YOUR LIKING…but that’s the way we’ve always made them.

Who says that to a loyal customer? So I’m going to attach a picture of a previous bear claw and the vanilla one from today. You can be the judge…but they are NOT the same.

Been here twice and both times were amazing. The food is delicious; the donuts are very soft, fluffy and flavorful (better than Dunkins by a long shot!) Only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the coffee; it was a Banana Bread coffee but just tasted like a black coffee and bitter.
