That said, the coffee itself left me pretty disappointed. I ordered their recommended Frozen Bananas Foster, but it tasted like 50% ice, 40% whipped cream, and only 10% actual banana foster flavor. It was nowhere near as rich and flavorful as I expected, especially as a signature drink. To make matters worse, I waited half an hour for it, which really heightened my disappointment once I finally took that first sip.
I also tried their hot coffee, and unfortunately, it was just… blah. Honestly, I’ve brewed better coffee at home.
On a positive note, I love that PJ’s recognizes veterans with a discount, something a lot of other coffee shops don’t do. That’s a big plus in my book and shows that they value the military community.
I’m hoping the lackluster drinks were just due to the hectic pace of the grand opening. I genuinely want to like PJ’s and support this location because the staff and atmosphere are great. So, I plan to give them another try in the future — fingers crossed the next visit is more about great coffee and less about a not-so-great review.
Great location. Plenty of parking. Lots of seating options.Easy to swing by on the way to Huntington Metro and enjoy on my way to work!

Let me start out by saying the beignets were phenomenal—fresh and perfectly cooked. I say this as someone who has been to New Orleans. The issue, however, is that the beignets came out in two minutes and the drinks were over ten minutes later. My mom and I went on a Sunday afternoon so it was not busy at all; I really can’t see why it would have taken this long. Plus, my mom ordered a shaken espresso with mocha and there was no chocolate in her drink. I like chicory coffee a lot so I was happy with my cold brew, however I will say the bitterness varies from barista to barista.
