Dinner time was bit busy, however it is definitely worth the wait!!
As my first time coming here I wanted to try many things. We started with the seasonal burrata which was a sweet potato spread with maple, pistachios, and bread. Bread was fresh and very hot, burrata plate was delicious. That’s about where the enjoyment ends.
We tried to order the “Saturday sandwich” which was listed on the board and we were told no it was too early. But no time was listed and it was already posted. Ok whatever. I ask about another dish with chorizo. Oh we don’t have that either….
We ordered a pepperoni pizza to “start” the venture. With only like one other table order food it took and extremely long time for the pizza to come out and during that time no server came to say anything. Easily 25 mins for a single pizza.
I had to get up to find a server to ask for share plates for the burrata. Then I asked for more water which after 10 mins and no water I had to get up and hunt someone down and ask again. Finally they brought a half bottle of water.
When the pizza finallly made it to the table it was easily sitting back there for a while because it wasn’t warm at all. My 5 yr old was able to shove it in his mouth with no issue because it was so cold.
No one came by the table so we ended up eating the food because we had already wasted so long the kids were getting antsy.
Then I went to hunt down the server again. One was out back and had been for a while. The other I explained the pizza was “cold” and he’s like hmm weird. Which I’m not sure it was weird if you left it sitting in the window.
So anyway I’m half way annoyed and figured let’s just get dessert and go. So the board both inside and outside says “bread pudding” I ask if that would come out hot and how long because we’ve just been sitting for a while and are getting ready to go.
The server then proceeds to tell me they also don’t have bread pudding that’s listed on the board inside and outside. So now multiple items not available, one I can’t order that’s listed, cold pizza, and horrible service.
Even after explaining the pizza issue he offered no resolution or attempt to resolve it just a shrug and move on kind of response. And there were multiple occasions where I asked for things and never got an update or resolution on.
I wish this would have been a better experience. Sadly it wasn’t.
Outside seating area is nice though.
Embrace freedom of creativity, wood oven and great service.
From Hot Hiwaiian, to Mr Potato head (our favorite), Chrizo pie, the creativity and perfection will beckon you from downtown to Red Bank.
good folks good environment.
I ordered the Sriracha Mayo wings and the Hot Hawaiian pizza. I absolutely love the fact that they have menu items I’ve never seen before, like Brussel sprouts on pizza. May try that one sometime. The pizza has fantastic ingredients on it, no question about that at all. But quite undercooked for my taste and very watery on the middle. Not greasy, watery. I couldn’t pick it up one handed without everything falling off. The wings were EXTREMELY hot, that’s thanks to great service. No waiting on them, fresh from the kitchen. However, the sriracha mayo was mayo heavy. I didn’t get. I much hint of sriracha. The wings themselves were great but wish I’d gotten a different flavor. The atmosphere and service was so solid, I wanna come back and try it again.
Not enough chicken on it to give an opinion on the smoked chicken. Blue cheese and buffalo sauce were pretty good. Positive: I rather enjoyed the chewy crust.
